The Descent is possibly one of my favorite movies, mainly due to the fact that it does a good job of presenting female leading characters that have depth and personality, unlike more recent films that just try too hard to make “strong female characters” and fails miserably in the execution. This movie shows it’s characters being skilled and resourceful and badass, but also shows them struggle with the situation they’re in. They try, they fail and then they’ll try again with a different method until they succeed. This movie doesn’t try to pivot men against women by saying “these characters can do it better because they’re women”, they make mistakes but they still push through because, just like anyone else would be in this situation, they want to survive.

I absolutely loved the way you said “That’s what you get bitch!” as the screen shows Sarah, staring at Juno with such a cold and crazy-eyed expression.
@Firguy_the_Foot_Fetishist9 ай бұрын
You really are a horrible person. There's nothing wrong with infidelity and Sarah was being a selfish, sadistic murderer for getting Juno killed because of her narcissistic sense of entitlement to her husband's sexual exclusivity getting invalidated. Alteori doesn't have female friends because she's a coward. She's also a horrible person because sadistic murderers who kill people because they get offended by genuine expressions of love don't deserve understanding. Plus, she's dismissive about Juno's connection to Sarah's husband. I've talked to many people who had affairs with married people and they do have deep and serious feelings for their AP's and they go through real pain and anguish when that connection is severed. Plus, she gives weak excuses for justifying her immoral beliefs, I mean, overpopulation happens when we give Africans too much free food. I really hope she does find out that her husband is cheating on her because that would make me very happy.

One thing I've learned from movies like this is, if someone SAYS they saw something, someone else keeps a lookout for it and you don't just brush it off as fiction JUST IN CASE, because then you're prepared for something dangerous that was specifically seen by somebody

2:45 I can understand what you said about not having female friends, that makes sense, but it's sad how many people these days, both men and women, have been duped into thinking that having kids is some kind of bad thing, like it's just some kind of burden or something. I was duped that way too, and now, in my 40's, I have realized how much I've been lied to, that having kids is one of the most important and most fulfilling, and most meaningful things a person can do in life, and that it's probably too late for me to find anyone to have kids with. Cause single women my age tend to be single for a very good reason.

I timed that scene where they drop the rock. It takes about 7.5 seconds for the rock to fall. Using a very convenient kinematics equation, d = 1/2*a*t^2 + vi*t, we can calculate the height of the drop. The vi*t term simplifies to 0 since they didn't give the rock any initial velocity, so the distance (d) that the rock travels is equal to 1/2*9.8 m/s/s*(7.5 s)^2, which works out to 275.625 m, or 904 feet!

That's 5 coils of rope 200' long. Or 6 coils 150' long (no room for knots) Or a 600' coil plus two more 150' or longer. That's a lot of rope for a caving trip, unless they KNEW they'd need it. But they thought they were going to a different cave... There's no way they had that much rope on them.

So glad I got the dark ending first. And, on the topic of caves, I would like to recommend to you, and anyone reading this, to also watch _Jacob Geller's_ *Fear The Abyss* video (if you haven't watched it already), because it's through him that I learned to revere the caves, and also develop a measure of fear. Only a measure, since I barely go outside, and the last time I was in a deep dark cave was when I was a child. Had to rappel down into one, we were in a group, it was expectedly dark, probably creepy if there weren't so many of us, and overall it was a neat venture in my life. Anyway, thanks for the laughs and entertainment, Alteori.

that ending destroyed me, f*cking ruthless. but honestly absolutely terrible decision to kill off juno, when this actually reduces her chances of survival dramatically. on the other hand, she probably knew they would never come out this cave alive. juno definitely was a proper sociopath. f*cking with the husband of your friend - absolutely terrible and disgusting, leading the whole group of friends in an unknown and unexplored cave while willingly deveiving them - completely insane. however when she killed her friend beth or whatever in the cave, that wasn't honest accident. imo beth was actually the one responsible, bc she snuck up behind juno, while she was savagely fighting for her life with those creatures. i mean cmon, what was she thinking, that's dumb af. anyway, the movie was awesome for sure.
