i think the best way to make it stick is to not see it as a “new year’s resolution” its better to just start working towards your goals at whatever time you want, not when a new year comes. You also have to love what you are doing. If you are forcing yourself and you hate it you will give up in a couple of weeks.
@IcewhipRoxx3 жыл бұрын
I found it helpful to start before the new year to get one habit down before adding more before the new year. I began intermittent fasting in November to get used to it, so I could more easily focus on trying new foods, daily walking, and food journaling without burnout. Since fasting is a habit now, the other stuff comes easier. I also don't tell myself that anything is a lifestyle change until I'm used to it. Change is scary and telling myself that this is how it's gonna be forever makes me wanna quit. So I allow myself that opportunity to quit whenever I want, or to have a cheat day once in a while. That surprisingly makes it easier to stick with it and reduces my cheat days!

@jjaa_joyjoyartist3 жыл бұрын
It's hard for me to find any sort if motivation. I have goals, but no specific driving force. Whenever I work on them from time to time, I always like it, but I quickly settle back into habits and do nothing once more. Even when I offer myself a reward it doesn't motivate me to do so, I just work around it. So now I'm going to try to limit my comfort by taking away things and time spent on them and try the list making/planner thing. I already have a goal sheet and specific goals daily which are bare minimum for most. I'll update if it goes well and I remember.

The best way to make any new year's resolution stick is to simply not make any. Why do I say this? Because humans have a tendency to go for a couple of weeks and then when they feel successful, they reward themselves with the behavior they've been trying to avoid. A treat, if you will. Say you're trying to eat better and after a few weeks, you figure it's ok to have that slice of cake or that pint of ice cream. Because you've worked so hard, you deserve it. The same could be said for just about anything. Vices, addictions, finding new hobbies, making new friends and on and on it goes. The problem being that you have a limited quantity of willpower. So how do we fix that problem? Instead of making a year long resolution, make it a week long resolution and when the week is up, reward yourself with something that will further assist in that goal. Making one week long resolution after another. Say your goal is to save money for an example. So you're gonna put away $5 every week and avoid impulsive spending. You get through the week, haven't spent much and you even put that $5 away. What's your next course of action? Well you've done so good this week and you've been eyeballing that fancy, new phone... No! So what could you do to further that goal? How about putting away a further $20 as a reward? Or whatever amount extra you have. Use smart rewards to help influence your smart goals. Instead of taking two steps forward and one step back. This will help prevent sliding. Don't believe me? Give it a try! See for yourself.

6 really is my least favorite. I mean, i get that u wanna limit screen time, but DELETING ALL YOUR IN APP PURCHASES COMPLETELY AND LITERALLY CAN MAKE YOUR DAY AND A WAY TO CONNECT WITH FRIENDS!?!? In the name of Charles Calvin, that is absurd as frick! I know u can reinstall but still! At least when you limit screen time and not delete the app u can still have access to it, but if u delete it, you’ll miss out on the TOPPAT AIRSHIP for Reginald’s sake!
