Fair warning: be a little careful about that name thing. One of my colleagues overoes that. Sometimes he calls people by their names every other sentence, which gets really annoying. One of our customers even got really mad and asked him to stop saying her name so often. It is actually better to not try to make friemds actively. Let it happen without intervention. Most people are the type you really do not want to know. Why chance meeting that type of person. Not making an active effort to make friends gets a lot less people to talk to you, thus less undersireables. The very few that will talk to you first will be a lot less likely to be undesireables, though they will still be many of them. Should it happen that nobody starts a conversation with you, that is good also. If you have no friends, you will gain incredible benefits in the form of extreme self-reliance, resourcefulness, independence, freedom, and resilience that no social person could ever match. Either way, you win. Since I am ugly, taking the passive approach to making friends did not yield any potential friendships. Nobody wants to be seen with an ugly person, whether for a friend or boyfriend / girlfriend. Thus, I was not approached. But, I gained the enormous benefits I mentioned. So, it is okay.

But the judgemental society throurough the years partially made me paranoid about what people think and now I'm even more closed in myself (was already introverted) and avoiding others.
