Don't listen to anyone claiming that you can't start on a liter bike!!! 1)Get a restricted power liter bike or restrict it 2)Respect her ( you don't wanna die do you?) 3)Take your time to know her better. Don't rush!!! 4)Learn to control her weight ( manoeuvres gonna be difficult...) 5)Don't drive like jerks!!! 6)Consider that others spent so much money to buy slower bikes till they get to liter bikes :) 7)NEVER let others influence you to go fast!!!! Do it when you are already familiar with the bike( or you'll find yourself miserable about the costs of crashes both in money and pain) 8)Focus when driving and don't get distracted! Liter bikes are no joke 9)If you don't feel much comfortable and are on tight budget, do yourself a favour and get crash cage or other protection measures (plastics cost a lot) 10)Get proper riding gear 11)Enjoy your bike and be careful for a happy and painless driving experience

Christopher G You are crazy starting out on a bike like that could get someone killed or scare the shit out of them so that they don’t want to ride anymore. I would tell people to start out on a 350 or even 400 . Twist that throttle too hard and launch yourself into the damn shadow realm if you don’t know what the hell you doing.

Zero chance a beginner is capable of handling 1000cc torque and power and I don't buy the BS line about restricting the power that would last all of 10 minutes. If you want to start on 1000 then go right ahead but arms and legs don't grow back. When I lived in Florida under 21 aged riders were required to have white plates with red letters/numbers with "under 21" written on the plate. I don't recall ever seeing under 21 plates on a 1000 that hadn't been down bad enough to jack up all the plastics and make the bike look like a rat bike.

*A slow guy on a fast bike is still slow.* Skill cannot be bought and unless you do your time on a smaller bike you'll probably never learn to ride as well as you should be able to. You'll be the guy that's always losing drag races because you can't launch and the guy the that everyone else has to wait for on twisty canyon rides because you can't keep up.

I started on my 899 Panigale with literally 0 experience, wouldn't change a thing. Was actually really easy to learn on since didn't have to shift too much at first, was able to focus on handling and throttle control. Quickshifter and auto-blipper also helped me focus on getting used to the bike itself before adding shifting to it as well (0 experience on manual as well)

I am a VERY new rider who last rode a 125cc Scooter 20 years ago !! Last year i found a brand new 2019 CB1000-R on sale and bought cash. I have ridden it (always locked in Standard mode) from Columbus, OH to NYC, Mass & Maine with No issues at all. I am a responsible rider/driver who only goes up to 90 MPH maximum but only on smooth surface & fairly empty highways. My phone is off in my backpack while riding, i look way ahead and analyze the road & motorists' behavior constantly. Thank you much for boosting my Confidence with my decision of jumping into a 1000cc bike. Plus it is Gorgeous Honda 😍

110% right, you have the option on a S1000rr to lower the power so when you get better you can up it, you can't up the power on a 300cc bike. That alone should make you want to buy a s1000rr, well at least if you're intelligent.

I agree you can’t up the power but you won’t be as upset if you slam a 300 into the ground several times during your learning curve. I bought a used ninja 400 and that bike slide on the ground more than a baseball player. Low side wrecks whiskey throttle panic braking you name it I did it. Now that I have experience and confidence in my riding I bought a 1000cc but I got my mistakes out of the way on a much slower bike.

All im gonna say is, trust me, i know how it feels when you really want something and cant get it right away, i mean i was thrilled at just the idea of getting a motorcycle, so i got a ninja 300, and like for the first month i felt amazing, something new right but then i got bored of it, i knew that i wanted a zx6r, but then i started realizing the lengths id have to go through just to get it, insurance rates being stupidly high, the cost of the bike, so i took it for what it was worth maybe its just not the right time for me to get that bike, so i kept the 300 for like two years until i finally got a z1000, gotta im super thrilled but I completely understand why i did that now, it was almost like the universe was trying to tell me don’t get something out of your limits just yet, doesnt mean you can get something similar, play within the limits an be humble, cause dont forget, you can very well kill yourself riding these, so i waited patiently and did just that. The shit i learned just from the 300, like all that time i spent learning how to knee down and distribute weight, mechanics of a motorcycle, my own oil changes, spark plug changes, learning to just appreciate a machine right? its so much worth your while doing once you finally learn all of that in easier smaller bikes, and then when you finally get a bigger bike after waiting for a while because you can learn to appreciate a bigger motorcycle for what it is, i just dont understand how someone could completely feel hung on riding when theyve never done it, put the time into even knowing if something theyd be willing to get into, and end up like it for superficial reasons, everyone likes riding for their own reasons, but for me its way less fulfilling to want to ride just cause you wanna go fast, dont get me wrong i fucking love it too but you gotta know when to do things and when not to, starting to early on a bike like that is doable, but hard for even some of the most experienced, you cant even tap into the potential of that bike because the riding level youd be at, it wouldnt be enjoyable on the streets with a low riding level, it would just be a death machine tbh, at that point youre better off starting small, its not that no one thinks you cant, if anything we wanna see more riders, but we also dont wanna have our rates constantly because we get more guys getting litre bikes or even just super sports and crashing, its just the smartest thing to do and start small. yeah you can crash whenever and however using whatever bike, but why add an extra variable of instability to the riding/ learning experience, be it the weight difference of the bike, the power band, the steering, suspension, all of that shit matters when youre learning properly, you can still learn how to ride a bike, but to ride it like you know what youre doing and can be confident using something like that is a whole other ball game, just saying, especially when you’re flying on the highway, just saying 🤷🏽‍♂️ But hes not wrong saying you could start on something like that, but dont you think youd learn more starting small than you would jumping right into what exactly you want with no prior mechanical knowledge or appreciation for it? You can’t learn to run if you don’t know how to walk, just because you start with a 250/300 doesnt make you less of rider, if anything, id go to the track and see people shred on 300-500 ninjas and be proper riders, knee down, instead of these gixer goons who learned how to ride last week, its the player not the controller. I dont give a shit about tryna show what i know, i just give a shit about someone learning properly, so they not only raise my rates, but ultimately/most importantly dont seriously injury themselves to early on! 🙏🏽

While I love the R3 something fierce, I definitely should have held out a bit for a bigger bike! I agree with the maturity thing though too! If you know you aren't ready, start smaller but if you have some self control and learn quickly then yeah go for it! @@adobomoto Yeah for sure! It really is and it is a ton of fun in the twisties but I feel like you can do just as well with a higher powered bike as long as you know how to ride properly :) I would definitely tell people who are looking to start to highly consider going bigger bike if they feel comfortable with it :) Like you said, with all the electronics (ABS, TC, launch control, power modes, etc), it really is a better value to start higher as to avoid buying bikes that will just depreciate in value losing you money in the long run, just one and done if you can :)

I started on a 95' Kawasaki Ninja ZX-11, and I'm finishing the restoration of the motorcycle on my own, it took me like 2 months of going to the empty streets nearby to get used to the throttle response and the weight. I would not recommend it, I haven't crashed or dumped the bike YET, but it's obvious that the danger is there (been almost a year now). I'm tall and can handle the weight, but it's not like it is easy. Now it is very rewarding to ride that bike but I acknowledge that I would be a better rider by now if I started smaller. It ain't impossible, but you gotta respect the machine, I use it to cruise like a HD owner would do, but if someone with a speed addiction gets a hold of a bike like that it will probably end up bad.

I bought myself a 2004 Suzuki SV1000 K3 as my first motorbike. I like sport cruisers, my fav. bike is the first gen Yamaha V-max but they relative expensive here, however I got the Suzi for £2k and it is in mint condition. She's naked with some mods like handlebar and rear suspension and due that feels a bit more like a cruiser (weird I know). The interesting thing for me, all my British friends telling me that I'm nuts, starting on a 1000cc Sports Tourer, all my continental European friends say, it depends on the bike. I looked up the stats for a newer 650s from Suzuki, it's only 0.3sec slower than the 2004 SV1000 if it comes to acceleration. Granted, it does have less torque, but I did watched a few videos and even the guy selling me the 1000 had a 650 as well and said the difference is more in weight and the wider frame. Let's see if the bike is a widow maker or not.

R6-R1 the major differences are the weights in between them and also the speed limit on them after 80mph and up, the 1000cc will keep going harder. Just 2 things; don’t drop the clutch and don’t crank on the throttle. Bend your wrist back before grabbing the throttle at a comfortable position to prevent using it as a pull bar and you’ll learn it’s control. That’s all. All bikes are capable of hurting you, don’t ever overestimate the machine and you’ll be 💯. You won’t regret it if you’re not being dumb on it.

Of course it depends on the person but one could start on a liter bike, take it slow and be alright. Or you could start on a 650 ride recklessly and become another statistic. I feel it would be a great all around bike, reliable, good suspension, brakes, and decent power. Also I think a great addition to the beginner bike section is the ninja 400. I think that is a bike with a ton of aftermarket support (Motoamerica Liqui Moly Cup), and still gets great gas mileage. Only real issue is that they are heavy. Its harder to corner slowly on a heavy bike. Practice in a parking lot a lot if you decide to state on a 1000. I still think its not smart to start from scratch on a 1000. Start with a 250, then if you really want, get a 1000. You need to know the basics before you make it hard on yourself. Also know that there is nothing wrong with a smaller bike. My 250 ninja is just as fun as my BMW 1100. BMW is faster at accelerating, but the ninja is more nimble, it just depends on what you want.

My personality though is someone who will push the limits of whatever they are riding. So a modern 1000 would be a disaster as I would have high-sided. You can start on a 1000cc bike in general because they’re not all the same thing like the guy in the Comments who started on a Suzuki VStrom 1000. Could be. Something tame like a cruiser. That’s not the same as a BMW S1000rr! Or ZX10r or a SuperDuke! The thing is you can start on a 1000cc superpsport ,and not die, but it doesn’t mean you are good at it. Something smaller is a better teacher because it’s more forgiving as it’s likely going to be lighter and lower with less torque it doesn’t need to be a 300cc with only 30hp but it should be light & Midwest power/torque so u can learn the fundamentals. If you don’t know them, you’re just going to drop your very expensive liter bike.

This is what I was thinking. Most of the people know if they're ready for 1000cc as a first bike. Except those very few 18-20 years old kids that just want to flex and think that bikes will get them pussy, which is absurd. They usually get scared and they sell the bike. But most of the people that get their license a bit later know well if liter bikes are for them or not. I think that the standard "don't get a liter bike because they're too fast" argument is laughable because if you don't have self control and cannot handle a liter bike, I highly suggest that you don't get ANY bike. Actually that applies for a car. Self control is very important in ANY vehicle no matter of the horsepower.

I think you’re going to get sick of converting back and forth, real quick. You’re probably better off getting 2 different bikes IMO.

Yeah i think so too. The fairings on this bike take a long ass time to take off compared to the r1 that took 2mins 😂

I rode a Kawasaki Ninja 600B in 1994... For maybe less than a year... But compared to todays bikes it may have well been a Vespa..... Didn't ride anything in between, and I just bought a brand new GSXR1000. So technically it's not my first bike but i mean 29 years between bikes I kinda think i'm a virgin again... And I would NEVER start on a 600 looking back.... This is the thing.... BE CAREFUL AND CREEP UP ON IT.... A 1000cc bike if you use just 6 tenths of the throttle is a 600.... LMAOOOOOOOOO...

@@SebasSV01x i just want to say ( not demoralizing you or anything ) R1 is not practical for day to day usage or for long rides . Its sitting position is too aggressive , plus it gets hot . I mean its your dream and i can't stop you from buying it ( cause i love it too ) , but a better option would be too buy a naked or tourer bike for day to day usage or long rides , and after it buy a R1 . If R1 is going to be your only bike then theres a big problem but if you have another bike with it , then you are good to go . You should buy it , but you need to have another bike with it . "Don't get 1000! You will die!" I know a guy who died on a 50cc scooter....We will all die but that shouldn't stop you from living your life. You only live once. Get the bike that you want and live without regrets or thinking "what if". P.S I feel like the people who try to stop you are a bit jealous because not everyone can buy these superbikes.
