It's 25 right now in Chicago. I'll go check my scarves... I''ve got seven. (plus two olive greens I got from an Army/Navy store to wear with my A2 flight jacket)

I have lots of scarves and wear them all the time during the cold seasons. One time I was told “man, you’re quite old fashioned, scarves aren’t the thing anymore”. I told em, “yeah because the new generations don’t know whatever the heck they’re wearing nowadays, no history - just baggy and sloppy nonsense”. Wearing a coat with scarves is timeless. And even if you have the same coat, it looks like a different one by just changing the scarf. 😊

Haha, I know what you mean. Scarves are a classic for a reason! 😎

Weird man.... I was just trying to add a scarf since it's so cold today, but I only have a couple that only match so much of wardrobe. I still threw one around my neck since I was just walking to the store around the corner, and it was early enough that nobody important would see me slackin on style points lol I need to shop around for something that'll fit in with most of my jackets, so this video came at a very convenient time.

Good video. Am reminded of the 1951 Christmas season movie A Christmas Carol when Scrooge played by Alistair Sim is preparing to go outside in the freezing cold and haphazardly drapes a scarf around his neck and flings one end over his shoulder. He needed to learn one of the knots you demonstrated. 😊

Loving this video! Living in Southeastern Texas, there seem to be very few opportunities to rock the cold weather scarf. Looking at my closet, I have received gifts of wool and microfiber scarves in brown patterns and in shades of blue. Now, equipped with the skills to tie a scarf (12:03 ), I will find opportunities to add a scarf to my daily wear. Thanks, Antonio!

Right there with you down here. I'm loving this Thanksgiving cold snap and the opportunity to wear some of my jackets and cardigans.

Also in Southeast Texas. Here, it makes a lot of sense to have a couple scarves for those limited opportunities, but not a large collection. I like to wear a tweed sports coat when it's a little chilly. Therefore, I use a scarf for insulation on my neck and chest, where the sports coat doesn't cover.

Love this video. I’ve been wearing scarves for years. Still have 4 or 5 and I basically only use about 3 different types of knot (likewise for ties) because there’s just so many! I love the Parisian but it only really works for shorter scarves. The other main one I use I don’t think you included but it’s basically like tying a tie but after you bring the long end through the bank you don’t put it through the loop, it just drapes down. It’s essentially a basic tie knot just minus the last part. Can’t remember what it’s called. The twice around I’ve used on a long scarf but it’s sometimes more than twice…
@karlr7505 сағат бұрын
I love the Parisian knot *because* my scarves are fairly short.

I typically only wear scarves in cold winter weather, which in fairness is 4-6 months in New England. My dad was a show pony, so he did instill an appreciation for a quality wool scarf with a nice plaid or maybe solid color. It can be worn with everything and will last several years.

Here’s a bit of (trigger warning) history that I’m sure you know but some of your followers might not (through a lack of interest in history.) ;) Here in New England a lot of older houses have a closet paneled entirely in raw unfinished cedar. Why? Because we used to wear a lot of wool in the winter, and we learned several hundred years ago that moths REALLY don’t like cedar, so storing the wool sweaters, coats and hats in a cedar closet made them effectively immune to moths. “But Random Dude on the Internet,” I hear you say (the historiphobes, that is) “that doesn’t apply to me at all in this Shiny Modern Age In Which I I Live and Where I Have Been Led To Believe Everything Is Just So Much Better!” Au contraire, mes frères. Ever seen those little blocks of cedar being sold by LL Bean or other prep mavens, and just assumed that preppies and flinty New Englanders just have some weird fetish for cedar? Nope. We *also* know that If you store your woolies in a plastic bag or bin for the warm months, and throw in a bunch of those cedar blocks, it has much the same effect. You’re welcome. ;)

Went to Salerno last night, and bought a peacoat, wool sweater and long-sleeved wool polo. Boy was I lost! But it's a start. Needs slacks and some shoes. They had so many scarfs that I couldn't begin to look. I just don't know colours. Makes this shit hard

I own about 40 scarves of every material, every length, every color. I love brightly colored silk ones. Half of the scarves I wear daily are women's. I use them to un-dull the "manly" non-colors of my outfits (dark grays, dark blues, etc). Be careful when you need silk to get cleaned. Silk is fragile (like VERY). And BEWARE of the political implications of wearing a shemagh (AKA a keffiyeh)
