Very useful set of tips in one place, thank you! I'd also suggest leaving a bit of space on the texture at the bottom and rounding the blades to avoid the straight cut look which could remove the need for alpha blending.

Thank you very much, indeed this is veeery valuable ! I tried to use a similar trick to generate 2.5d trees using combinaison of 2d sprites. Do you have any advice ? Or reference ? Do you know any other work-around to render trees in a 3d word using 2d tree sprites ?

my planes dont blend properly. one side of the plane is bright and the other side is dark. and when i render i get shadows on the planes behind it. there is always shadows on the trees and grass that are behind
