【6】Simplified Mouth rig + Vbridger

I really appreciate your mouth rig workflow! A lot of material I used when I learned mouth rigs showed each keyframe being done at the same time, and doing the extreme ends first saves you a lot of fuss! It took me a while to realise I could just ADD the in-betweens after. So I really appreciate this as an example of a good habit for beginners to pick up!!

I was stuck on this part for weeks because my mouth was modeled in many separated layers and i have a beard to work with also. Thankful for this resource still as I cross referenced it constantly during the entire process. After this segment I feel significantly closer to the final result.

If you're running into the issue that your mouth closes when turning the head of the model Check to see if its connected to angle x/y by using the 9x9 grid button on your parameters if it is press the delete all keyforms button for each of your mouth layers and it should be fixed

Hi! just seeing this now. When I do this, It deletes the mouth entirely or it will then only stay facing forward. What am I doing wrong? Should I find a solution in case you don't/can not reply, I will edit my comment! 💜 Edit: fixed it within a 20-30 minutes. I was selecting "Mouth XY" and not the individual parts of the mouth. You need to go into "Mouth XY" and select everything you need to, EXCEPT "MOUTH XY" DEFORMER! (the green windows logo lookin fella) that's the important part. then it works perfectly fine and I can edit the mouths to my heart's content. Happy rigging y'all :)

I wish there had been a mouth glue tutorial ;; I tried to do it with the brow one but it doesn’t work at all, mouth is so different from brows, I have no clue what I am doing wrong…. maybe there can be a small mouth glue tutorial in the future, that would be awesome!

Hope you got an answer by now, but I struggled with this for several hours. I did find in another tutorial that when gluing, use the either the glue icon in the Tool Details with just the red or green instead of the one with both to adjust the weight. That worked perfectly for me.

I made the mouth on my vtuber really hard to rig so if i don’t use some of the vbridger things will it still work? Im still going to use mouth x, check puff, shrug, & jaw open. Just wanted to know 9:39

Hi! In the Vbridger part my model's mouth doesn't change shape when I choose another parameter in mouth form and mouth open, for example I did MouthFunnel, and it works well in 0x0, but in 0x1 it doesn't change the shape, it doesn't get smaller like I did, is that normal? or I have to edit each parameter to change shape?

hi! so i followed the exact steps for the vbridger parameters and stuff but when i tested my rigged model on vtuber studio it does use the vbridger mouth parameters, the other mouth forms are working fine, how do i fix this?

I just can't ctrl shift c and ctrl shift v It keeps saying "please copy form before calling" Ok, for some reason i can do it manually via the menu Modeling -> Edit Form -> Copy Form, and then -> paste form

If you have AMD Adrenaline graphics you need to change the hot keys on adrenaline one of them is also ctrl shift c and ctrl shift v. Also make sure you are using the monthly and not trial version, trial version will not let you do it.

make sure you click the little drop down arrow and click select on form before you try the Ctrl+shift+C and Ctrl+shift+V stuff. That message is saying you down have a form copied because its not been selected.

This is such a great tutorial! It's been so helpful, but I'm running into a problem when making the mouth funnel, the rest of the mouth forms don't change to be funnel shaped(?) they just stay the same Idk what I did wrong 😭

I didn't understand the "only affects hair xy'S synthesize corners... Drag it back in for that and out again when done" I was hoping you would showcase it but you did not, can you explainwhat I need to do to keep the hair from deforming? If I leave it as is after taking them out of head z the bangs don't more proper when viewing the model posing

When I try to make the first mouth, skin from my lower lip overlaps into it from the bottom, did i go wrong somewhere meshing the mouth or something? :(

Check the layer meshing and see if it’s the mesh dots that are overlapping, if not check if any layers are on top?

Your mouth deformers/layerd should not be rigged onto both mouth open and Angle XY parameters! Either one or the other. I had a separate mouth deformer only linked to Angle XY

Hey again Merely! I got all the way to importing and I’m finally done. Thank you so much for the tutorial you’re an awesome teacher! The only issue left is that my mouth won’t move. I’m skipping the Vbridger steps so that’s not the problem. When I was editing and following along I accidentally deleted the “Mouth Form” & “Mouth Open” parameters. However, I thought I could simply make new parameters with the same name and did all my work on the new ones with the same Max & Min values. I think that’s why it’s not picking up… is there anyway to fix this? It’s the only issue I’m stuck at now- I’m sorry for the second comment, but I’m not sure how to find a solution anywhere else 😭 If you have the time and see this thank you! If not I’m still so grateful for your tutorial!

Hii great to hear that you completed your model!! 🤩 So when you replace params in live2d, make sure the ID is the same name, as that’s what vts uses to identify the parameter. But for now, you can simply go to vts and relink them to your new parameters. Just find vts params that the input says mouthOpen and mouthSmile ( part 11 at 5:51, the output should be red in your case, if you can’t find them, create new ones) and set the output to the new params you made!

Do we need to have Vbridger? I don't have an iphone so putting in $10 on the plugin won't be of use. If we don't, do we skip the Vbridge section all together for all the new mouth parameters or we do them too and it could be of use in other programs? btw been following the tutorials and it's absolutely wonderful, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge
