There seemed to be a lot of fret buzz on the Warwick. I suspect it could use a bit of truss rod or bridge adjustment to cure that. Surprisingly I noticed it a lot more when Lee was playing than when Nathan was playing. Maybe it was just set up for just that little bit lower action than the other basses here and Lee is a bit more forceful on his finger style playing.

You can't go wrong with Rockbass! It's so easy to find the sound you want, no need to turn a bunch of knobs on the preamp. And its highs are in the right range and don’t hurt your ears even if you turn them up to maximum. Plus, thanks to a normal preamp and German pickups, the Rockbass truly replicates the recognizable character of Warwick.

I have the Ibanez 1998 SR406-NT, I also have tuned it into the alt B0-E1-A1-D2-F♯2-B2 tuning that's the same as a guitar but 2 octaves lower. I like it for the extra flexibility for bass lines. The 406 has an all maple body with 5 striped neck that feels great, like a Wizard designed for bass. I primarily play mine in arpeggios, forget about doing chords anywhere on the fretboard. My tiny hand cannot spread wide enuff on the low end, nor can i handle the heights of the chords on the WIDE high end of the board. FYI, I DO have other bass to play with, they're all 4-stringers tho. One is an 80s vintage Samick SOB-PJ-WT short-scale PJ-bass, and the other is a hybrid P-bass made with a Fender neck and a Crate body. I prefer my Sammy and my Ibby. I tuned the Sammy to ADGB, basically shifting to the middle 4 strings of a guitar but tuned down an octave, whilst the Franky is tuned to standard EADG.
@armignac2 жыл бұрын
Why would you tune the high C to a b if not for Playing chords. Try a C
@TheGhostGuitars2 жыл бұрын
@@armignac Basically arpeggios are chords but picked one note at a time. This means I don't have to fret all the fingerings for a chord simultaneously. I'm more a guitarist than a bassist, so I play the 6-string as a extra low guitar as background rhythm. Another reason is that I'm a tiny guy with very small hands which measures < 6" from wrist to tip of pointer finger, my longest finger (the middle finger) is just under 2.5". So I can only hit the higher 3 or 4 strings at the high end and can hit more strings the closer I get to the nut. I can hit all 6-strings at same time only on the 4 frets nearest to nut...just barely.

Charm is one thing….a quality video is another. This is awful. I came here looking for a thorough and great review of six string basses and instead I found a completely lazy mash up of unprepared guys running through basses that were not set up in a sequence that was not well thought out just so they can make a six string bass video and post it on their KZbin channel. Incredibly disappointing. Guys, just because you don’t give a single damn about six string basses doesn’t mean that the rest of us don’t. There is a market for them, so respect it accordingly and actually spend more than four minutes making the script and plans for your next video next time. Charm will only get you so far. In the end, people that are in the market are actually looking for a substance over anything else.
