My friends always tell me to finance a new car. my 3 cars are a Morris minor, a Mercedes 190d and a mk2 VW golf. Older cars are way cheaper and easier to work on and in my opinion they’re just all round better than modern cars. I’ve always seen finance on a new car as a stupid option as the car will have depreciated in value or had some sort of electrical fault by the time you’re done paying it off.

Every single person should learn to meal prep. Buy some containers (I use Ello) that are meal sized. Broil some salmon or another protein. Add some rice or couscous and a green (I usually go with broccoli or asparagus). I usually throw a few in the fridge and freeze the others for later in the week. It takes less than an hour and I have six meals ready to go. It sounds obvious but buying containers that fit an entire meal makes it so easy.

My ex mother-in-law had an interesting strategy, especially if you work for an hourly wage. When she saw something that she wanted to buy, she would stop and ask herself, “How long do I have to work to pay for that?” It’s a good speed-bump check before spending money. Is that fancy pair of shoes, or whatever, worth a week of your work?

Food - yes. I think it's alright to spend a bit once a month but I stay away from doing it frequently. Better do it when you actually need to instead of doing it just to satisfy yourself or a craving (unless it's been for quite some days). Technology - I prefer to use mine till it wears out or becomes incompatible ( my windows laptop from 2014 runs perfectly to this day). Same for a phone. VIDEO GAMES- Yes, I game. But I prefer to wait for a sale to save some money off, and only buy a new game when I am completely bored of what I currently have. (Euro Truck Sim 2 - I like driving and would not get bored of it. Minecraft - it's endless. I keep switching between them two) Dopamine- The satisfaction of spening money buying stuff. Yes, I've often thought of buying a new ink pen, or a bicycle multitool. But, I don't need those when I happily have a good number of pens already and have the tools already. I did these things for like 3 months and saved 3K INR - something like 35 USD.

Wasting money is not the problem nearly as much as not generating it. No one got rich by saving and being a cheapskate, every financial article or video in existence goes over these same things blaming cars and so on, so by that logic everyone who read those articles would be rich by now, but no one talks about how the biggest waste is people not attempting to generate something apart from their 9 to 5. Also no one is also talking about by far the biggest waste of money in western countries - renting an apartment for the sole purpose of escaping from your family, instead its promoted to waste half of your salary on unnecessary living space you don't need just so that you are "independent", instead of using that money to start a business, buy healthier food, learn skills and so on, even if it means living with your family for a few years longer. Why do all multimilionaires live with their families in big mansions and "independent" lefties buy shoebox apartments just so they aren't in the same house as their parents and then struggle to reach the end of the month with noodles and pizza?

He has another video that’s basically the same thing, except in this one he trades off designer logos for coffee. Still no mention of gambling though, although I suppose that could be considered a vice. Oh and he also trades out video games for bottle service. Either way, I would think that hookers, drugs, strip clubs, gambling, porn/OnlyFans, clubs/bottle service and obnoxious “designer” clothing like Gucci belts, T-shirts and sneakers should pretty much be at the top of the list of crap that nobody should waste their money on. Oh, and as far as bottle service in “da club” goes, these idiots listen to rap music and then go out and try to emulate the rappers and/or songs that not only condone but advocate doing stupid s**t to try to make others think that they’re “a baller” when 99% of them probably didn’t even play HS sports! 🤣 As a wise man once said, a fool and his money are soon parted.

I agree getting a new iPhone every year is excessive. in my experience, i think the best option is trading in ur old phone every couple years, preferably when the 2 years of Apple Care expires so ur always covered, just in case something happens. If u wait longer, ur phone's trade in credit depreciates and u will get less back on the purchase from Apple. Also evaluate what is the best bang for the buck, if u really need the Pro MAX or not, what storage u need if u have external storage options, that kinda stuff. And, look at what hardware features u get in the newer models too, like Apple Intelligence is pretty good and will just get better, but see, i bought my 15 Pro in February of last year, BEFORE that got announced at WWDC. All i bought it for was the better camera at the time for the Vermont Solar Eclipse trip i was planning, and it turned out to be a better investment than i had anticipated bc Apple Intelligence is actually kinda cool.
