I don't consider protein powder longevity extending when we can get all the protein we need from a good diet. I'm sure it helps bodybuilder like Thomas but I don't think there's evidence that protein powder outperforms Whole Food protein when it comes to longevity

Hypercalcemia, and perhaps atherosclerosis, are risks with ultra high vitamin D intake, especially if you don't take some form of vitamin K2 (natto or supplement) as well. 3,200IU = 80 micrograms is the highest tablet dose available over the counter in Norway, but pharmacists often say that's for people with a deficit and try to sell me a lower dose (800 IU or 1600 IU, the latter in wintertime). I still buy the 80 microgram tablets, but I don't take them every day. I buy them only because they're the cheapest per microgram. Several years ago the maximum was 20 micrograms or 800 IU, and even then I remember at least one pharmacist recommending a lower dose unless I knew I had a deficit.

"Some people are overdoing it with supplements. Researchers looking at national survey data gathered between 1999 and 2014 found a 2.8% uptick in the number of people taking potentially unsafe amounts of vitamin D - that is, more than 4,000 international units (IU) per day, according to a research letter published in the June 20 issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)." 'Harvard Health Publishing (HHP) is the consumer health information division of Harvard Medical School (HMS), the graduate medical school of Harvard University.'

@@anderslvolljohansen1556 Because Vitamin D is fat-soluble it can accumulate in the body and lead to life-threatening conditions. Btw, a simple vitamin D blood test cannot show whether you are deficient or not. Supplement manufacturers like to make this claim, but to detect whether you're actually deficient you need to measure the active form of vitamin D in your body: 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D. The form that is measured in a simple vitamin D blood test, namely 25-hydroxyvitamin D, which is what you increase when you take one of those supplements, does not even trigger the conversion into the active form. Low calcium and phosphate blood levels is what triggers the conversion. (That's also why supplementation can lead to hypercalcemia, which is very bad.) So a lot of people supplement even though they don't need to, supplement in a way that is wasteful, and supplement to excessive levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D which can actually inhibit conversion to the active form. And when they take a test they measure the wrong thing.

@blahizake true story. I get my physicals at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville . I told them about my regiment with taurine because I had read papers about it because I used to drink energy drinks that had taurine in it and also read that taurine being the cause of death from energy drinks. When I saw the benefits and what they actually do I started taking it and the doctors at the Mayo started saying be careful with that and you don't know what that can do to you. Now yes that can be with any supplement but I tried to explain to them the research and nobody ever cared about it. I doubt they still do today. But I figure they thought about it as something they didn't learn about in school but didn't know it came mainly from a lot of meat and beef

@@ahefner33 Their hands are tied psychologically, politically, monetarily, etc. There are too many factors working against conventional doctors for them to recommend anything other than pharmaceuticals or practices from the 1970’s. In either case, if anyone is able to do their own research and look into the literature and testimonials for taurine, it’s almost too good to be true. I haven’t seen anything with half the depth and breadth of benefits that taurine and glycine provide. Also, it’s pretty funny how many of the supplements known to demonstrably improve human health are compounds already found in animal products. It’s no wonder that people feel so much better after eating more meat and organs.

I think taurine is good for oxidative stress. It is found in the liver of animals in higher amounts. That lets me know that it functions in the liver. My hypothesis from taking it because I take stuff, I want to make note of its use. The usefulness of taurine is likely to prevent oxidative stress from sugar stores in the liver and helps manage that. If I have eaten a lot of sugar and taurine is used, I get upset stomach. My liver stores a lot of sugar and as such, it creates oxidative stress when it releases after a large meal and no exercise. It likely plays a significant role in clearing out bad sugar stores in the liver or something to do with it. I don't know though. Resveritrol is starvation in a bottle and really needs to be taken with caution and not all the time or it will do major harm. But Kefir seems to be something that I think helps due to its vitamin k2 which increases calcium absorption which plays a role in cardiac arrest when people take HMB due to its high calcium content. I have to go now.

Hey Thomas in a previous video you put out about ALA you said that it should be taken for performance on your heaviest volume days. Now I’m this video to you are saying to take it daily. You had said not to take it daily so your body produces it endogenously. Have you changed your stance about this? Or are these two separate recommendations for different purposes. @@xnoreq mixed reviews on that for sure... here's an excerpt from Dr. Don Clum at Insulin Friendly Living in a recent post: :"We now know that specialized cells in the upper part of our digestive tract, called “K-cells,” interpret the food we eat before it is fully digested and well before it has passed into the bloodstream. K-cells appear to interpret the food we eat by its constitution rather than the nutrients, carbs, protein, or fat it contains. A study out of Japan showed that apples consumed whole have an “X” insulin response, and the same amount of apple made into a sauce and eaten in the same amount of time has 100% more, and the same amount of apples made into juice has a 150% increase. These apple servings had the same amount of nutrients, calories, and sugar, yet the insulin response varied by 1 and 1.5 times. As more foods were tested, showing the same pattern, they determined that the change in the constitution created the hyper-insulin response. The same increase in insulin secretion was found in cooked food as well. A potato will have a meager insulin response if eaten raw, yet the longer you cook it and break it down, the higher the insulin secretion is. The most dramatic unnatural hyper-insulin response is seen in any food made from a powder. Powder-based foods include any type of flour, such as wheat, almond, coconut, and oats, and they also apply to powdered protein and amino acid supplements and any powdered meal replacement. This hyper-insulin response protein powder occurs even though protein powder doesn’t raise blood sugar." Hope this helps!

I would avoid a glutathione supplement because it breaks down in your stomach and rarely gets fully absorbed at a therapeutic level. A more effective way is to supplement with the three precursors because glutathione is a tripeptide. And if you supplement with the building blocks, then it builds faster and better in your body. I’ve experienced this myself because I have a genetic predisposition towards lower glutathione levels, and I’ve tested my glutathione recently, and the levels were really good. The three peptides are glycine, cystine, and glutamate. Since the body produces its own glutamate, I only supplement with NAC and Glycine.

According to Bing's Copilot: Niacinamide and nicotinamide are indeed the same thing! They both refer to a type of vitamin B-3. Despite the similarities in names, they are identical in chemical structure and function. When I search nicotinamide through Amazon, both supplements pop up. Are they the same? Also, FDA is expressing some concern about this supplement due to a dearth of human studies.

Yep, as we discover new things with science we use whatever is better at the time. I was taking NR and now I'm taking NMN because it works a bit better. After NMN, there will likely be a newer better compound we find that works even better, so I'll switch to that. If you don't trust the science then it's ok to take none of it and ignore all the benefits.

Yea 1:1 Eggs are better no question and there are better ways to get protein in your diet in general I think most just use protein powered as a meal replacement since its quick and easy. I've been using a nut based protein powered and I really like it as its a better form of protein than many others if time if a factor for you. The main problem with most protein powered is the research I've seen shows they spike your insulin WILDLY so if your supplementing with them daily it could cause you problems.

No, eggs and egg protein has its own problems. I recommend vegan protein powder that has more nutrients, more protein, a better amino acid profile, less fat, less calories, etc.

@@xnoreqlol, fuck outta here with that vegan powder bullshit. Not only is vegan powder hard for a lot of people to digest, it’s also disgusting to drink, like mud. Not to mention that vegan bullshit all comes from monocrop agriculture which is hell on earth to produce and fucking destroys the soil it comes from. Eggs are FARRRR more nutritious than any fucking vegan powder will ever be. FAR more bioavailable! If you have an egg allergy, which most people don’t, just eat chicken. Most people are completely fine with eggs.
@junglecat7263
@junglecat7263 6 ай бұрын
@@xnoreq Incorrect. Eggs are naturally rich in vitamin B2, vitamin B12, vitamin D, selenium and iodine. They also contain vitamin A and a number of other B vitamins including folate, biotin, pantothenic acid and choline. Vegan protein has NONE of those nutrients. Eggs also have a protein bioavailability score of 88 to 100 compared to vegan proteins, which range from 74 to 82 so you'd need to eat 30% more vegan protein to get the same results

As a biologist I was interested in biohacking since I was 15 and spend probably multiple thousands on supplements (which is easy). Gaining muscle without using roids? Well, some, but not the levels most KZbinrs these days have. Gaining strength was probably the easiest. But I cant say for sure that I would be less healthy if i never used all the supplements. I would be if I stopped using the internet for sure.
