#ThankYouAbroadInJapan First off, CONGRATS ON A MILLION! I've been a proud fan with a passion for Japan (that rhymes) since 2014. Since the start of high school, I've developed with a lifelong passion of some day exploring japan, and becoming a game designer, capable of inspiring players with an interactive story of the ages (Like a new Final Fantasy)! As of today, I am in my first year of college perusing these very dreams, with so much more to learn. I couldn't think of a question for the life of me, so I think this a more fitting response. I just want to say thank you for being such a significant pillar in giving my life such an incredible sense of direction starting at the young age of 14. From what I've seen, KZbin is a way for creators to share their inspirational videos with a world of people ready to be inspired. And in my opinion, you're paving the way for the rest of the world, as well as myself. I hope I can inspire peoples' lives in my own way, just have you have in your way. For that, I once again say, thank you!

The onset of a panic attack (especially if you've never experienced them early on in life, or for the first time) are absolutely terrifying. Especially because you don't know what's happening. The first time I had one I thought I had been poisoned or was going into a seizure or diabetic shock and called 911. Then afterward, the memory of the experience messes with your psychology and constantly threatens to destroy your confidence in certain situations. But I'm glad that you got over it, breaking the mental shackles that can trigger such episodes.

Also did you get my expert advice on cycling? Cheers, AJ
@tygonmaster6 жыл бұрын
1. HA. Perfect. 2. If you mean for a person coming to America and you are asking what they should do, I can chime in some there. As someone that lives in the US and has lived in the US (so far) my entire 24 years of life, I can tell you the first thing you need to know about the US is...well the US is big. Really big. REALLLLLLY big. People that are familiar with smaller nations kind of assume that America is this "one thing" and that is simply not true. America is such a physically large country that people in one area of the country are dramatically different from others and you honestly need to learn about the area in the US you are going rather than general US advice because....there is no "general US advice." What is acceptable in, say Virginia is different from what is acceptable in, say California. You will find people have very different values and morals as you look at different areas of the US. It is the 3rd largest country by land area and unlike larger countries that are mostly populated in small areas with the rest being frozen much of the year, the US is fairly populated all over. It leads to a lot of different kinds of people if you get what I mean. Second, if you do visit the US (and this goes along with how large the US is) do not expect to see it all. It is so big, you really need to pick just one or two states and visit a few sites in them. Hell, ONE CITY can sometimes be tough to see all of *cough* New York is like this...so, do not expect to see the whole US in one visit. Do not even expect to see like 1/100 of the US in one visit. It is just geographically impossible. Finally, and this kind of just goes for any traveling...just do not talk about politics. Just don't. Even people that live here get sick of it. So...just don't. XD 3. This I too find interesting, but...well I think it comes with some issues doing a video on. XD

Chris, Congrats on 1 million subscribers and 6 years of experiences. Also thanks for sharing the wisdom you've gained over the last 6 years. Welcome to getting older. :-) #askabroad: Did your award winning speech on always wanting to become rich, also include some wisdom that "riches" can be measured in more ways than how much money you have in a bank account? Hopefully, you've figured that out already. Keep up the entertaining content here on KZbin. Here's to your 2nd million subscribers.

You are easily one of my favorite KZbinrs ever and congrats on your 1M subs! I dont really have any great questions for #AskAbroad but well as a big fan of movies myself, I noticed that you once twitted that you wanted to make a separate channel for reviewing movies. So I'm curious what kind of criteria/quality you seek when watching a movie? And what are your top 6 (your go-to number) films of all time?

I had the same experience doing the Japan/JET thing in 2007 - I was an "alternate", so I had six weeks to sort my life out and move over there, and I'd never even visited Japan before. At first it was all exciting and "this will be fun!", and then I was saying goodbye to my hometown, family (some for the last time), etc, etc, the anxiety and stress got so bad that I didn't really sleep for the last 3 days before moving there. Even on the plane to Tokyo, I was swinging between "wow, I'm moving to Japan! :) " and "OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING MOVING TO JAPAN?? :O" ... but honestly, the whole process and the following 3+ years changed me in ways I'd never imagined... because I stepped off the edge and trusted it would work out. (and it did)

You have no idea how helpful this video is, Chris. I had no idea that what I've been suffering for the last 5-6 months is "panic attacks", I am going through a huge transition in my life and I didn't really think it's affecting me negatively, I've bought a new house and I'm getting ready to move out of my parents', which should be a huge achievement, esp. in my country where a large percentage of men of my age will probably never own a house. But, now I realized that I'm actually terrified, lol. It makes it a lot easier to know what's wrong with you in order to feel better, I thought that I'm losing my mind and that I'm depressed for reasons I will never know. Thank you, Chris. I feel a hundred times better now because of you.

Dear Chris, thank you so much for making this video. When you spoke of your fear of public speaking and then went on to do amazing things such as the speech competition and TEDx talk, I felt incredibly inspired. For a few years now, I have made a promise to myself to try and take every opportunity that is presented to me and I am extremely lucky to have been offered the opportunity, as a sixth form student, to potentially give my own TEDx talk. I had been mulling it over for a while (I also have a great fear of public speaking and I'm shaking just thinking about it), but this video was the sign I was waiting for. I just sent off my application and I am very thankful to you being the one to inadvertently push me to do it. Even if I don't end up getting chosen to speak, I want to know that I tried. I will continue to try and improve myself, just as you showed you did at the competition, and one day I hope to succeed as you did. For in the end, it is not the failure that causes regret, but the missed chance of succeeding next time.
