I agree with you. That being said, if you are old like me, insurance is cheap. I pay $800 per year for my 2024 M2. Your insurance will drop when you hit around age 26 or so. As for the climate control, I just set the temperature and leave it in Auto mode. In a year now, I’ve never changed the modes. Yes, the ride is stiff even in Comfort mode but it is an M car. I’ve owned seven M cars over the last 25 years and they are all stiff. Not much can you do about it. Again as being old, I prefer the exhaust quiet. I hate the buzziness of the exhaust. I bought a bunch of dynamat and lined the trunk floor (not stuck down of course), and also lined the interior floor under the mats to quiet down the road noise. My ears have had enough of blasting the radio to hear the tunes, so it has quieted down the road noise considerably. Brake dust is terrible but so was my 2019 Golf R. The only way to get rid of brake dust is by using racing pads or getting carbon ceramic brakes, which are not offered on the M2. If I back my M2 out of garage, brake dust appears…my biggest hate. As for the seats…I’m not a fan of leather seats. They burn your legs in summertime and freeze your butt in the wintertime. I prefer, again because I’m old, real sheepskins for two reasons: warm in the winter, cool in the summer and after five years if I sell the car, the leather seats show absolutely no wear, no wrinkles. It’s amazing how much nice leather seats help with resale value. I’d much rather have cloth seats though. Gas mileage is bad but with a light foot, at 55 mph on secondary roads, I’ve hit a high of 31 mpg. Around town, it’s low. I’m more unhappy that I can’t run 93 octane as the highest in Oregon is 92. I’m currently trying to mix 92 octane with a bit of 110 octane. We have one station that sells 97 octane and 110 octane. Price is very high: $9.20 for 97 and $9.40 for 110. Twenty cents difference, I’ll get 110. I want to run a few tanks of a 95 octane mixture and test the car and then go back to 92 octane and see if there is any difference in the quarter mile. Overall, I love the M2. I found the M3/M4 too big. The G87 M2 reminds me of my E46 M3 size. Great video as always…thanks.

@jimdrivas4949 I own an M240i for my winter and rainy day car, and honestly, the stiff suspension is a real bummer in all M cars! Adaptive suspension makes a small difference, but nothing like my RS3 that transforms the ride into an A3 is amazing! I won't buy another bimmer until I test drive one, and there is a significant improvement over bumps.

It's not BMW's fault that you're young and your insurance is high. It's not BMW's fault that the tires are expensive to you. It's not BMW's fault that the services are expensive. Most people that can afford a BMW M2 are usually twice your age and they don't pay the high insurance. They can afford the maintenance, gas, and tires. I feel like 90% is standard. You don't buy a sports car for gas milage and big fuel tank. That's what the Tesla is for right? Or comfort or almost everything else you said. It's the lowest model M so they're not going to put the top quality stuff in it. Tires and insurance? Don't do slides or burnouts lol. Insurance will get better but any sportscar will be the price. I agree with the brakes but a set of aftermarket is cheap and will fix that. As for the rasp. Also agreed but good thing there are tons of examples on the internet to figure out what setup you want to go. Definitely carted downpipes and possibly resonated midpipe will help. Also oil change price. Do it yourself for 1/4 of the price. Or an indy shop. You live in an expensive area so the dealership can charge more

Great content and congrats on owning an M2 at 23. I'm 26 and have a G80 M3 hopefully being delivered in the next 5-7 weeks. A couple of the things you "hate" about the car are cost related, and I wouldn't really fault the car for that. Anyone buying an M2 should already have considered these things before purchasing, but I'm sure your video will help them if they haven't. I do have some advice for you on the parts though. 1. Oil changes at $450 is robbery. Buy the oil yourself online for $85 and take it to a nice enthusiast german car shop. They'll do your oil change for $100/$150. You also should be changing the oil every 5k-7.5k miles, not 10k as BMW will recommend. Do a BMW oil change every 10k miles for free in your first 3 years/30k, but please make sure you supplement out of pocket every 5k miles. 2. Brake Pads: iSweep 1500's will cost you $800 for all 4. They are better than the OEM brake pads and dust WAY less. In no world should you be paying $1800 for brakes on your g87. 3. Sound: Pair the SST Valve Controller ($250) with a single resonated midpipe from MAD (Master of Art and Design) ($800), and you will have an amazing sounding car without any rasp or drone. Sounds like the car should have out of the factory. 4. OIL COOLER: For some reason BMW did not protect the oil cooler and it is on the bottom of the car by the front lip. There are tons of guys who have had this completely destroyed by road debris. You can get a protector from MAD right now for $200. Consider this if you drive on highways or dicey roads at all. Cheers

Good video and thanks for it. Having had an old 335i e92 that I highly modified to 680rwhp, which my son now has . This has been on my short list as a daily. I’m currently dailing a 2017 Audi tts stage 2 with all supporting mods and can easily take my friends 2024 m3 with down pipe and exhaust…which was rather disappointing to me and very surprising to me with a car even at stage 2 with significantly less hp wipe its ass with it. Still on my short list as it’s time for a change. Didn’t like the looks at first in pics, but in person really liked. Mileage is somewhat of an issue as I commute 40 miles each way and Audi averages 27mph with spirited driving. I really need to see what trunk space is with seats down for road trips. My current road trip car is my modified 2015 c7 corvette supercharged. Supriizzingly it has tons of trunk space, plus at 760whp gets amazing highway mileage at 34-27mpg….unless over 80 and then rear spoiler…well spoils that with drag and drops to 24mpg…80 is the magic number. Insurance on vette is 24 bucks a month Audi is much higher at 76 a month. Mk3 gti is almost nothing when grouped with my insurance. But I’m 58, no accidents, no tickets., well besides that poor raccoon that did 5k damage to Audi that besides the fire in ssfront spooler didn’t notice..damn Audi parts make BMW parts look cheap..

Small fuel tank as a daily did annoy me at first, but there’s a gas station on my way to work so it’s not the worst. I avoided the m3 and m4 because in my country they are only available in competition, and to have fun in the m3 comp at least I find you have to be going way over the fkn speed limit to have fun on public roads, being automatic doesn’t help, as you remove engagement. Where as the M2 because its small and is the only m car that can be a manual in my country, it was a no brainer, its heavy but feels nimble lol.

If you are in manual mode it makes the shifts happen faster. I would have liked to know this, so I'm putting it here. Also. In my 2025 I am getting 20-25 mpg, in the mountains with very little interstate driving. Also. If anyone can help me. I have a almost intermittent buzzing at 60 thru about 67 mph. @Mrbobcat717 күн бұрын
@JVette01 IDK that oil change price does scare me if true. I mean the cost of the car payment would most likely stretch my budget to the max. I'm comfortable with my current payment, but this car was "only" 57k and I got 20k equity on trade in and 0% int for 72 months which I would hate to give up. There has to be a cheaper way for oil changes. I'm assuming this is at the dealer as they are always more. I'm betting a local garage could do it cheaper or me and my dad could figure it out. I'm not really that mechanically inclined, but have learned how to do minor things like change wheels. But after more research, I'm thinking maybe the i240 xdrive may be a better fit for me since it's cheaper and I drive one vehicle year round in NW Ohio and the awd would be a big plus in the winter although I'm sure I would still need to change the tires out at least or get another set of wheels and tires like I had to do for my Mustangs in the past and my current Challenger. I don't like the front end look of the 240 at all though and it's down on power. I'm sure a downpipe and tune could fix the power issue, but not sure I could get used to those strange looking triangles areas in the front. Maybe there is an aftermarket fix for that too, but again I'm sure that wouldn't be cheap either.
@Mrbobcat715 күн бұрын
@@JVette01 I wonder how the i240 xdrive would be maint wise? I'm guessing not much better. I'm now thinking that may be a better fit for me with the awd and being cheaper. Love your videos! I got to disagree with the exspensive to mod point. These cars are known for how cheap it is to make power and there are plenty of cheap cosmetic parts. For example, my M2 only has a JB4 and flex fuel kit ($1000 total) and dropped my 60-130 from 10.3 to 7.02. Also got a lowering kit AST ($800) and full aero kit from maxton for ($800 total). Very nice looks and hp per dollar. If you wanted to skip the piggy back route and go custom tune you can go 'FBO' for around $3000 and make 700+ whp and have a 5.x 60-130 easily.

@JVette015 күн бұрын
These videos never fail to bring out the idiots. Maybe you should stop crying about a KZbin video on someone else’s opinion on someone else’s car. I already said several times that I love the car, so I had to try to come up with things that felt like a downside.. but clowns like you think that I’m actually upset at owning this car or that I’m ungrateful or something..
@danielmchugh82315 күн бұрын
@ you’re the clown for making stupid content. I couldn’t make it through the entire video. You point out obvious things. It’s a waste of time and I get it you are trying to make the content because you can’t afford the car. Could care less about how you got it but it’s just silly to see these useless content on the internet.
@JVette015 күн бұрын
1. Thanks for sharing your opinion on what you believe is “stupid content.” 2. The fact you didn’t watch the full video explains the ignorant comment. It’s stated several times in the video that I love the car and this are minor gripes and not deal breakers. 3. My M2 is paid off now. I have the title.. but that shouldn’t matter. 4. If you thought this was silly content, why would you even take the time to watch? What does that make you? 5. I’d like to see you attempt to make a video on your car. All of the comments you leave are always ridiculous, yet you’re here watching. So thanks anyway!

You're paying what for an oil change!?!?!? Sheeeesh. I buy my oil from FCP Euro for $80 and let my mechanic change it for $20 labor. My BMW is an old 2008 though lol.

😂 it’s not even that big of a deal, just a minor inconvenience. The car is still better than anything in its price range imo
