I love the long winters here in Petoskey because the bugs and fudgies are both gone.

"the locals" most have moved from the big city a few years ago. I love P-town.

I lived in Petoskey for many years. I graduated from Northman high back in 95'. I left in 04'. I'll never go back. The economy absolutely sucks. I discovered that Michigan is one of the most corrupt states in the nation. Plus don't ever get into a car accident. You'll quickly find that Michigan is a "No Fault" state. Which basically means that anyone can just plow into your car, total it, and not be held accountable for it. Most of the Jobs are seasonal. The hospital had the longest Nurse strike in US history. Plus its not what you know that matters, but WHO you know that matters most. Thanks.

From my experience petoskey locals except for the money hate the influx of summer people and any kind of transplants .The transplants especially who are almost always better educated and more affluent then the locals . A class dimension to be sure but a also more annoying is the fact transplants know of a world and have scene more of a world then the locals . Northern Michigan is provincial ,poor , conformist , angry .Most locals like to think their small and shrinking town is the center of the universe and despise hearing about other places where civilization functions at a high level & worse yet where nobody knows or cares about petoskey .Vacation yes but never move there unless you are into reverse evolution .

No, we hate the transplants because they take up jobs, housing and resources from locals. Same thing with tourists. They come here and treat us like garbage, buy property that they don't live in 99% of the fucking year, while the people who do live here year-round suffer from housing shortages, lack of stable jobs and resources. Transplants don't know anything that we don't know.
