Thanks for the quick post. To your "disagree" recommendation I couldn't agree more! Best quote of all time on councils from the Prophet himself: “The reason why men always failed to establish important measures was because in their organization they never could agree to disagree long enough to select the pure gold from the dross by the process of investigation.” Joseph Smith Council of Fifty Minutes

I think setting the first council meeting aside for defining a mission statement is a great idea! When you first brought it up, my Covey alarm was going off telling me that everyone should be involved in the mission statement so everyone can be bought in. Great idea.

We learn the pattern for council meetings in the temple. As we discuss, converse, and counsel, the revelation will start to come in, and we will eventually all be speaking with a unified voice as directed by the Spirit.

Where can I find the 7 unbreakable rules of church meetings? I can't find it in your channel. Thank you so much for the great advice, this is a really helpful guide.

Your number one rule doesn’t follow the instructions given by the church. The church wrote, “Councils should use the scriptures and the words of latter-day prophets and apostles, other General Authorities, and General Officers to guide and support the discussion. In this way, the words of inspired Church leaders can help quorums, groups, and Relief Societies address important needs.” So this kind of debunks, no quotes, or talks, etc., doesn’t it?

Julie Tucker use the scriptures, talks, quotes in the council, not as the coucil topic
