"[...] We're athletes...it is our job to move with good quality, and that starts in the warm up." Very few point out the paramount importance of this. Thanks, Cody.

Mid-50s age masters athlete training for 400/800. Starting to play more with resistance bands in w/up. Would you suggest using them exclusively or maybe doing a set or two without the band, then moving to the band for a drill within the same w/up? Thanks for the tips!
@ATHLETE.X3 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim, I think you can mix it up. I tend to start with an ankle weight and ground based mobility work, progressing to drills with or without bands. If it’s a faster sprint day, I like to finish with no resistance so I can feel the speed of movement that I want to see in the workout.

Great video as usual! I want to know your opinion about the Snatch lift, did you see benefits as a sprinter from using it?
@dylanahern68523 жыл бұрын
Hey Cody, how would you advise team sport athletes running mechanics on the field? Like for example in soccer or football having to shield off defenders with your arms while running and also difficulty staying tall because you have to change directions and might take contact while you're running. Also a big problem of mine, I always strike way in front of my hip while running and just, in general, feels like I'm putting on the breaks instead of going forward. Any ideas? Thanks very much! Nice video.

if your having trouble running because your striking too far in front of you, try to get those steps in faster and bring them father underneath your body. And if your taking a lot of contact you won't be able to be so upright. You will have to sacrifice some of that top speed for better balance when you get hit. The harder you are getting hit the lower you need to be to take that shock in your legs instead of falling off balance to the side kind of like a bowling pin. You don't want to do that. Hope this helps you Dylan.

What's you opinion about sprinting while fasting? Is it a good way to start your morning?
@ThePassionofSprinting3 жыл бұрын
I did intermittent fasting 14 hours a day, but started training after my breakfast around 11 am :)

If you don’t warm up could that affect your times dramatically?

Quick question Cody, how would you typically introduce max velocity sprinting in GPP after focusing on hills/ acceleration capacity for a while?
@ATHLETE.X3 жыл бұрын
I would typically have a week or two where I go from shorter accelerations to longer accelerations that top out at maybe 95% effort, and then once we’re sure the athlete is healthy I’d ramp up the intensity to basically max effort. As long as they’re healthy and can maintain their mechanics with increased intensity, I wouldn’t worry too much. If they’ve got injury issues, I’d use something like high frequency dribbles to prep them for for the sprints. M

Yeah that’s the way to go. Plans are great and all but the reality is we gotta work with where we’re at depending on the day.
