Great tips. I have seen this castle on Instagram a few times but never seen someone do a video on it. Great stuff. Nice to see it from other points of view.

Cheers Paul. Yeah, it looks great from every angle too! I took my drone as well, but unfortunately it's prohibited to fly there. Thanks for watching buddy. 😀

Good vlog Robert, I'm still playing catch up on KZbin from my own holiday. The misty conditions certainly added atmosphere and improved the images.

Thanks Trevor. Yes, it's a fantastic place. Last time I was here there was lots of repairs being done and scaffolding everywhere, so I was really pleased it was gone this time around! Thanks for watching. 😊

Great Video, I love the castles, The mist and cloud at 01:44 really helps castle #1 At 02:51 the graphic repeated roof shapes make it very attractive. 04:32 again the texture of the path and the mist!!! make this image, 04:10 I love the composition, how the eye is drawn from each corner of the image by the light, lines and shapes. 05:47 uses domination and the shape of the castle to draw your line upward. a wonderful collection of images, and well edited and produced Video. Thanks Robert

Thanks very much Tony. It's a fantastic castle and well worth a visit if you find yourself over in Europe. 😊

Well, I don't think we have many a castle here in Nova Scotia, but we do have some pretty neat forts, so we can always transfer these tips to local circumstances...do like the mystery and intrigue that some clouds add to the images...pretty cool! Sometimes I just like getting up close and getting some of the stone details and masonry. Really enjoy your work...thanks so much for sharing your expertise! Bruce and Otis

Thanks Bruce - I did get quite a few close up detail shots, but I don't like stuffing too many images into the videos, so didn't find space to include them. I might put them on Instagram though. Thanks for watching - hope you and Otis are well. 🐶😀

What a place! I can’t wait to visit Europe again after seeing that. I miss castles and fortresses 🏰. Lovely images, I’m glad you got moody conditions as it really suits in my opinion, the way the cloud wraps around the trees and castle is just great. That last shot of the castle by the vineyards is great too, I like the perspective which kinda emphasises the scale of it! 🤩 great vlog and tips throughout mate, top quality video.

Cheers Rauri - yeah, I was pretty pleased with the conditions. Just a little bit of sun coming through the cloud would have been nice, but can't complain really as the weather was really on and off the whole 2 weeks. Absolutely banged it down with rain some days! Thanks for watching mate. 😀

Castle shot 4 is superb mate. What an epic location - shame no drone flying over there but your assistant did a good job with the b-roll as always 👍🏻

Cheers Dave. Yeah, bit gutted about the drone - it had a trip to Germany and didn't even get an outing! Oh well - like you say, good b-roll from the chief videographer. Cheers mate. 😊

Stunning images mate. Great use of the fog, really nice and moody. Some brilliant tips to boot. Never thought about the distortion with the verticals so will definitely be keeping that in mind if I'm ever shooting castles and architecture. Looks like you've had a great trip, and looking forward to the next vlog!

Cheers mate. Yeah, the verticals thing isn't something that bothers me much - I actually quite like the distorted perspective effect sometimes. I'm a member of a local photography group though and when we enter competitions they're quite big on straight verticals! Those tilt shift lenses are cool, but do cost a bob or two! 😊

Great video Robert! I think you made a good choice by going on the moodier of the two days. That image on tip #4 was magical with the mood and the most, but all fantastic images! Can't wait to see more from your trip looks like you had an amazing time, and we'll deserved after all the lockdowns the last year and a half! BTW, are you fluent in German? Have a great Sunday and looking forward to more from Germany!
