As far as I know black pepper, kelp and dried sea weed from China and sold in Asian supermarkets in the USA carry the warning that they contain heavy metals which can cause cancer and birth defects.The warning is usually in fine prints, in an inconspicuous position and in English only. I wonder why those contaminated products are allowed to be sold in the USA in the first place.

Usually in Canada or the USA the Chinese product will say ""packaged" or "processed" in your country meaning it actually came from China but wasn't completely packaged or processed there, if you like barbequed chicken a lot of it is killed in the USA but is sent to China for processing before being sent back to the USA because it's cheaper to process there than in the USA.
