i think i relate with the essential minimalist the most. but i do collect BTS albums and cherish my clothes. with the clothes i am very intentional about the pieces i buy and make sure to purchase high quality materials so they last a long time. it could seem like that’s not “minimal”, but to me minimalism is removing the clutter and keeping what you take value in. so in this way, it is minimal to me. i think minimalism is different for everyone because we all have different interests!

So proud and glad to see that there are Singaporeans who are also finding meaning in life outside of material things and consumerism!! Honestly still hard to find a community in SG of people with the same values, so I hope your channel continues to inspire people to explore this lifestyle. Do you have any advice in that regard (ie communicating your values in a respectful and kind way to your peers who may not practice minimalism)? I also recommend “Zero waste vegan” as an example of an eco minimalist :)

Thanks for the support Victoria, always appreciate your comment! I'm also learning at the same time when it comes to communicating my values to people who are not familiar with minimalist lifestyle, I find that by practicing and being an example is the best way convey the value, but do take it lightly because we can never convince everyone to be on the same page.
@victorialim

100% agree, that’s something I’ve had to learn through my own vegan journey and will now have to apply it to minimalism as well. It’s just a lifestyle that is so great and kind to our mental clarity, wallet AND the planet that it’s hard not to want to spread it to everyone haha. Keep up the great work!

I think I started reducing stuff after a friend told me how stressful and draining it was to clear the house of her mother in law after her sudden passing. A lot or older people are now decluttering, the Swedes call it death cleaning. I think that could be added to the types of minimalists..I also noticed that many younger people are helping their parents or grandparents to clear excess stuff, so the older person can cope better with dementia or being more prepared for moving into a care home, and less stuff for the younger people to have to sort after the person has passed. In the process of my clearing, I realised I had lots of unfinished projects, so streamlined that and acknowledged what I didn't want to finish and so got rid of. It has been going on with my shrinking stuff ever since.

I started minimalism lifestyle to have a simple life, clearer mind, i think i should be mindful minimalist. Along my minimalism journey, few more types of minimalist get mixed in, they are asthetic minimalist and essential minimalist. Besides all these, I am finding the dressing style that suits my lifestyle and myself now. So i really make effort in minimalise my wardrobe, not only decluttering clothes but also replacing some with new clothes which suits me now. It applies to other things as well. I'm almost done with this. Happy with the progress. I think the expenses will be lower then. It is not difficult as I am not a impulsive buyer.

The calloused / training/ military minimalist, sleep on the floor, wake up at 5 am, train the body with the body instead of gyms. The purpose of owning less is to avoid a luxurious comfortable lifestyle in order to callous their mind by learning to live with less. Examples: TrainingPal, or David Goggins.

A bit from Several what ever serves me best in due fit, also an interesting one u could add to the list is time and space savers , as one can sort of be inclined to maximization - nothing to overboard as still have minimalist standards in mid , but if can store with well thought out way of doing so via time and space saveing , or one could even call it being refined as in a bit max and min reaching a a sort of sweet spot of things and balances , but most of all one should be there own self appointed govener in which is only a title , however if one is in alinement with the upkeep of polociys that determines how the liveing environmentmust operate , what i'm saying is one must embody the life style and maintain a concessness of it , to maintain flow of the environment , in which in a a way is a central burdon but if yr policys are good enough tried true and tested than one can be decentralized , as when i mess my room up its stiil looks and funtions in order
@WickWars101
@WickWars101 4 жыл бұрын
also all of my policys trike down from the main modality of the room in which is = i base however my room evoles , on it being a work for it based enviroment , as in exampe i only have one small bin , so if i have to throw something out i have to work for it and walk to the bin as thisuits meas it promote heathy non lazy liveing habbits like it or not, but i like anyway now that ust to it , i sue i'm not ever change back , also because its an air tight small bin it fills up sooner rather than latter so i get to take it out sooner , as large bins get rotten quick and build up and get worse , so i take the small bin outside to release the air tight gases or when use - say out on balcony , however if this is inconvenient for one without a a backyard or balcony then even tho it hardly gets a chane to get rotten , i instead use a scoop of bi card soda as itsgot no balcony ,,,, so thats just one of countless work for itbased policys i live by and is not no longer a disiple but an effortless life habbit , and now a lifestyle , coundent be any happuer with how its become.

When you said “financial minimalist” I hoped you would mention Graham Stephan because that is exactly what he calls himself. It’s funny, because he doesn’t consider himself minimalist in the traditional sense, and yet he is the epitome of the financial branch of minimalism. On another note, I’m surprised you didn’t mention Shelbizzleee as the eco-minimalist, since she started the eco-minimalist movement.

I don't know if this is minmalism but I like to stick to just the basics. I still use Notepad on my Windows 10 computer. I still use Windows Movie Maker even though I got a much better video editor. I use MSPAINT. Nothing wrong with sticking to the basics.

My main motivation is found in the Bible, for example, "godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content." (1 Tim. 6:6-8) Jesus is my treasure. He satisfies my soul and gives me peace of mind. I can live with less and help some needy families. Less belongings make it easier for me to follow my God-given calling which takes me to live in new countries every few years. Instead of hoarding things, I spend money on learning languages which I need in order to fulfill my mission. They do not take space in my luggage.
