If you actually want to know I can tell you. To get good finger/wrist vibrato 1. Approach the violin from the side and make sure you have a window between your fingers and the violin neck. 2. Make your finger stand up like a bridge or a mountain. 3. Collapse/ roll your finger backwards so the knuckle touches the finger board. 4. Repeats evenly and slowly, like you are taunting someone. Once tgis ia easy on every finger, speed it up.

The first problem I had with vibrato was the bow hand fail, where my right hand was determined to follow my left, it took a good hour or two of sitting and really focusing on that alone to keep a good continuous bow stroke while vibrating my left, all the other problems came after that, although with much pain it is getting slightly better!! LOL. Violin so hard, but I love playing, even if I'm still pretty terrible, I will sit and get lost in practising every little thing for hours, when I'm not practising violin I'm playing guitar or it's music theory, or watching TwoSet, lol! When you really love the instrument and really take great joy in even the smallest achievement, practise is no longer a chore!

I'm only 5 months in, on violin, and a long way from vibrato but you make an interesting point about keeping bow stroke separate from finger wiggle. Never would have thought about this! A bit like patting your head while rubbing your tummy! I'm already challenged... and trying not to dwell too much on the very long road ahead... but the rewards are immense...

Dalia Aguilar I’m not sure what the difference is, but this is my best guess. Cello vibrato has a lot more arm and wrist motion than violin/viola vibrato. Too much arm motion on those smaller instruments may cause you to end up accidentally dropping your instrument.
