#6 Volcano Filter Tank - 53rd Month (The Day Before Second Reset)

Hi, this is last update of this tank before resetting. I still have all my tanks. I'll get in the rhythm of making videos again. I also started new projects.
I don’t know if you remember, but the bettas didn’t make it b/c they ate too much shrimp and it caused constipation. This was my poor judgement in fish selection. I’ll try to do better.
Also, remember, there was toxic water crises that I went through b/c of the very old water pipes in this building that was eventually solved by installing water filters under the faucet.
One tetra still remains. I hope I can save her in the reset.

Gosh, this was always one of my favorite tanks. It's had more ups and down's then most, but the thing I really loved was, just simply, the water volcano. The way the moss grows into the stone, and the way it brings riparian elements to an otherwise completely aquatic set-up, have always inspired me. One day, I want to make a riparian inspired by this, to have some of the joy it's brought me in my own home. A beautiful set-up, through all its ups and downs.

Wow. So much time has passed and my life is so different from when i first started to follow these tanks. I so vivedly remember the rock fountain with the shrimp climbing through the stream to the top. I suppose its just the realization that there are so many lives around me that persist for their own sakes, and how powerful that is. Ive been keeping plants this last year and this channel has definitely been on my mind despite the fact i havent watched a video in over a year probably. Beautiful as always. LOVED it. BTW for live food one thing that worked well for me was daphnia, mosquito and blood worm farming, as I had some space at the back of my house which got a lot of sun. I got 2 large containers which get a lot of light (in my case an old child's plastic sandbox #1 and an old fish tank #2). - In #2 I collected green water, either from a friends old pond or just by letting leaves sit in water in the sun for weeks. - In #1 I dropped a packet of live daphnia and green water, and let them grow. - Then whenever #1's water became clear (once or twice a week), I would harvest by doing a 2/3 water change and straining out the daphnia, replacing the old water with green water from tank #2. My fish adored this and just bred in the tank by themselves (pepper cats, neon tetras). They just looked really happy and lively. I never had any health problems. Some notes, if you do do this: 1) Never put a net or drop of water or anything from the daphnia tank #1 into the green water tank #2 or you may transfer daphnia into your food supply. 2) Green water stinks when it dries on your clothes. Wear old clothes. 3) If you don't want to grow bloodworm and mosquito larvae (which I did, and the fish really enjoyed), put mosquito netting over your tanks to prevent insects from laying eggs in the water. Harvesting the mosquito larvae is a pain in the ass because the larvae jump down and hold their breath at the slightest sound, but it's fun like wack-a-mole if you have the time. Harvesting the bloodworm is easy, just stir the leaves and they start swimming, net them then let the dirt settle then transfer them to cleaner water before adding to tank. (PS. Collecting rafts of mosquito eggs, and clumps of bio rich in organisms, and putting them into a baby fish container as baby food also works, as long as you keep an eye out for larvae which escape the baby fish's tiny mouths.)
