EDIT: The crab seen at 12:16 is likely a different species than what it was sold to me as (G. dennerle). Mixing species isn't ideal and will result in fighting, which I was aware of. I assumed it was just variation in color, but others have said otherwise. I'm going to separate it from the rest of the colony and closely observe the others to see if there are more imposters. Always something new to learn. 😅 So glad to have finally done a build for vampire crabs! What do you think and what else would you put in here? I have a few things in mind already, but I'm curious what you think. Let me know and have a great weekend SerpaSquad!

To be completely honest, this is one of the most realistic paludariums i have ever seen. The black lava rock and the sand go really well with bright green plants and mosses, i love how it turned out. I would also say that the lights are at a perfect brightness, they still leave a lot of darkness for the crabs but illuminate the branches and plants sticking out of the background. One last thing is the branches, the way you placed them and made them look cohesive is beyond me. really good job, honestly.

Dude, i really respect how you don’t just get an animal off people’s requests alone; you get one when the time is right. A lot of creators wouldn’t do that, and subsequently not be able to care for the animal in question right or in a sustainable manner. That takes some knowledge to do, and understanding of the art you practice Thank you for that; your animal husbandry, and respect for the animals are both just a breath of fresh air..

Great to finally see a vampire crab build! I love all the branches they both give the crabs a means to avoid fights AND look amazing!

Thank you for including the common name of your plants with the Latin one! I used to have to search for the Latin name constantly to figure out which types of plants you were using so I appreciate the extra detail! Also, love the scape.
@fernedowns66529 ай бұрын
Ya,it’s soo helpful like who is gonna remember the Latin names 👍
@gammaplus6408 ай бұрын
@@fernedowns6652 Latin name is helpful for identifying the plant with precision instead of having to hope the common name isn't shared with a bunch of other similar plants, plus the Latin name is international and helps those whose main language isn't English

I'm gunna be "That Guy" but I'm sure you'll appreciate the extra info on Geosesarma species. ❤ The first thing is you shouldn't mix the species/colours . They'll fight each other to the death sadly. Kind of like male betta fish will. The second thing is that the love to burrow in soil it's their primary habitat. So if you can squeeze more section of dirt into that Paludarium they'll appreciate it. 😊 The general rule is 80% land (soil) 20% water
@gammaplus6409 ай бұрын
100% agree, my crabs spend most of their time burrowing, this build needs more land

At one point I created a waterfall in a 60 gallon “antique” Metaframe “show” tank. The aquarium was fairly shallow but extremely tall, it was a custom order tank back in the day with an aluminum frame and slate bottom. The scape and mechanics were similar with a “pond/pool” area at the bottom. My choice of plants & mosses was also similar with the addition of tiny ferns and miniature/micro-mini free-flowering Sinningia. After a few months I stocked it with Strawberry and Green & Black Dart Frogs and a solid white male Betta in the “pond”area. It was so relaxing just to sit and watch!
