3:59 Our family has been without a TV for just over a year and my children have extremely limited access to my smartphone. Their behavior has improved so much since we got rid of our TV, they barely fight anymore and are constantly involved in inventive and imaginative play.

I really appreciate this video, it confirms what I believe and encourages me to keep raising and homeschooling my children the way I have been.

Thank you for sharing this. I've struggled with my little one expecting me to be his sole playmate and feeling guilty for that being impossible. It's tough being in an area without many stay at home moms and most kids my child's age being in daycare/preschool. Solidarity to other parents going through similar struggles!

how do you do a well balance between socializing your kids and giving them time to be alone? I find it confusing to say kids need all this time to play with other kids but also need time to emerge in deep play. When my kids are with other kids they just seem to bounce from one thing to another which is fine but I wouldn't want them to spend every day like that. specially my kids, they love to play with other kids but also really need their alone time, their personalities are more in the introvert side. So each parent knows their children best and what they need.

Hello Avital! What a beautiful reminder for me. I never tire of hearing your encouraging words and advice. I love your style of teaching. I am going to sign up for your masterclass again. I can always use a good dose of Avital-wisdom! *hugs* from our family here in Canada.

Thank you for your videos. I was wondering how parents can avoid being emotional absent to their children if their kids spend all day Playing with other kids?

This video makes me feel so much better about me not being able to entertain my child all the time! One question though: what if my 2,5 year old is actually constantly ASKING me to play with him? Am I doing more harm than good by doing so?

My exact question too and something I am finding difficult to navigate at the moment!

Avital goes into this deeply in her Reclaim Play course! It’s multifaceted - a combination of filling their cup up during other times so they are able to sink into independent play, being careful about our tendency to direct play when we do it with them, and thinking about the words we use like praise that may encourage more dependence…

If this is helpful to anyone: if my 4 yr old only child (homeschooled) asks to play with me directly, I will do so for about a half hour a day. The rest of the time, I tell him it's now his time to play with his toys himself, and if he is acting "done", I take him out somewhere or arrange a playdate with other kids.

Is 30+10 minutes screen time a day ok for a 3.5 year old who stay at home. He usually play when brothers are back home and don't play much alone

That is a warped statistic and it is dangerous for you to say that about kidnappings.

For real..

Your child is more likely to get struck by lightning than be kidnapped. Look at the statistics. I know that seems impossible if you watch mainstream news. But it's true! We actually live in the safest time yet.

Here’s the source “If for some strange reason you WANTED your child to be kidnapped by a stranger, how long would you have to keep them outside, unattended, for this to be statistically likely to happen? 750,000 years.” letgrow.org/crime-statistics/
