That's the new version, it uses a touch sensor, not buttons like the original. However, you have to hit them a little harder as the quality of the touch sensors is not the best.

+Kenneth Southard Yeah, I got this for Christmas and you really have to hit the buttons hard or it doesn't register. Which also stinks because it messes with your 'how many times in a row do I hit this one' memory (if that makes sense)

I bought one too on the day after Christmas for $8.00. I don't know but I swear that sometimes it expects me to repeat a different pattern. My guess is that I should replace the store batteries. I have made it to 7, while my son got up to 15 on his second try, I guess I'm getting old.

That's odd. Ideally it should work for all normal presses, without having to do the extra work of hitting softer or harder.

When I was a teen I was playing Simon behind my back hearing only the sound. I was in the 30 -40 or little higher most of the time. Quite good for the brain and focus. Later during my 20s at University with my roomates there was a videogame/movie rental store with a Simon "Free Rental" machine. My friends rarely had to ever pay for a movie for as long as the guy kept that machine.

Well after scrolling through the comments, I've noticed that no one suggested that the game be placed on a much harder surface. That will compensate for the force being used to activate the buttons.

Possibly, but shouldn't have to, and as other 3 buttons work OK. It's more an issue of the button clicks not registering every time, v.s. button not getting clicked on a press.

ms9 True !! But ive noticed that this simon game has indentations in the middle that would be better used to activate that particular button as opposed to pushing towards the edge. Either way, by having to repeatedly push the button more than once. to register, it seems to have stifled her concentration a bit...but she did pretty well nonetheless.

Haha. I always wanted this game but never had it, but I had other memory games! I had this pyramid game that lite up on four sides much like Simon and I wore it out! I still have it! I remember I did a study at a University and the administrator was touching random pegs on a board and I had to repeat her moves. After a while she started lookin at me a lil crazy...LOL! The next thing they wanted was for me to come in for a DNA sample and I REFUSED! They asked like 3 times after that and I just wouldn't do it! I didn't trust them.

A lot of people are counting wrong. Some think red =1 Red blue=2 Red blue green=3 That's not the case. Simon has 31 moves total per sequence. Each sequence =1. So this little girl while "good" didn't even get 1 yet.

I'd wager there are people who can do it "forever" -- until it runs out of batteries or they fall asleep. Someone just recited the first 70,000 digits of pi, so I suspect they can learn new numbers as quickly as simon "speaks" them -- which will be very slowly once you get into it a ways, since it repeats the entire sequence every time.

I scored 58 after having struggled a lot. My technique is that i represent in my head the number of times i have to press a button. (For example, it can be red3 yellow1 green1 red2 green2 etc...) . For doing that, you have to imagine that there are numbers on the buttons. When i started with no technique, i used to score an average score of 12. Then i tried musical memory ( i got avg21), Kinesthetic memory ( avg21 too) and then i tried this new technique and i got avg35 with 58 as my best score. Also, you can try to create a story with a ball for example ( yellow throws the ball 3 times. Then, green tries once. Blues arrives, steals greens's ball and throws it 2 times ... Etc)
