TFL was the first media outlet that actually did REAL offroad testing of vehicles. That's what earned their respect. These guys don't jump curbs at the mall and call it an offroad review. Thumbs up.

And they also did it in 4K, or just one of the earliest media outlets, and that does make a big difference when watch it through you 40” 4K TV. Yes, I think that’s why the sale of pickups and SUVs have soared while luxury cars in the same price bracket have plummeted.

@@ZmannR2 wait till the 2021 GMC comes out, my father picked up a 2019 Denali with the 6.2L. The power train is smooth, gas milage great and it drives and rides amazing. All that said the interior looks like a work truck not a $80k (Canadian) vehicle. GMC dropped the ball on the AT4/Denali interior big time and apparently the 2021/22 models will have a new interior similar to the Yukon/Escalade

Dear TFL my friend bought a ram rebel the other day and as i was comparing the features I realized that the rebel is more comparable to a ford fx4 package than it is a raptor. I am writing this comment because on your channel you guys do an incredible job of testing the off road models off road, but for those of us who will never be able to afford such expensive vehicles but could potentially afford a ford fx4 or a gmc equivalent I would like to see you guys test the offroad packages and see how they stack up. Side note i have been a fan for many years and highly enjoy your content.

I have a 2019 Denali fully loaded with the 6.2. The AT4 wasn’t on the lot when I purchased the Denali. Had the AT4 been on the lot I would have bought that one. I like the 2” lift and the skid plates. Actually, I would order the AT4 with the 6’ bed,. When the gate is all the way down, there’s an inner part the tailgate that flips up, so that it can keep a load of sheet rock, plywood, any 4’x8’ piece of whatever, fly sliding out. And I would get the smaller engine; depending on driving conditions can run anywhere from 2-8 cylinders. And all the technology that’s on the Denali is available on the AT4. Having HUD (head’s up display), I could never go back to a vehicle w/o it. It’s incredibly helpful with navigation. Also, the camera mirror gives close to, if not more than 180 degree coverage. Between the side mirrors, and the camera mirror, I can see darn near everything. I leave the camera on all the time.

I have went though your videos for a few months. I also went to car shows and been comparing trucks for over 6 months. The Ram Rebel was my second choice as I just this week bought the AT4. One of the biggest reasons is I have had 3 different cars with air suspensions. ALL 3 have had issues a few years in costing me many hours in a garage and money being fixed. And wouldn't you know it is always just after warranty is over that they bags and valves etc all go out. They ride great, adjust-ability is great, time is not a friend though. I also live in Colorado so if you would like to see my new AT4 Double Cab let me know. I had to import it from California to get it as Colorado Dealers don't seem to want to carry it.

Gas is up to 1.80/L for regular on west coast of Canada....no thanks I've had the 10 speed F150 for 2 years now...and really don't think its necessary. On highway I can stay in 9th and see little or no difference in mpg. In town I don't need truck in 8th gear at 30mph,I lock out gears to 6th,or drive around in Sport mode. A Rebel is just a dressed up Ram 1500. Don’t get me wrong the features and creature comforts are great, but the truck is mechanically identical to the 1500, the air suspension is the big difference, but bilstein shocks are also not best in class. I bought a 2015 Ram 1500 used, put 37in Mickey Thompson Baja Mud Tires and a 6in BDS lift with Fox Shocks on her. After a tune and some other small additions such as a winch/recovery gear I’d bet my truck will outdo any of these and cost me about half of what these do.

The power wagon has manual lockers front & rear . Also is a true off road truck. Un like the chevy they put an emblem on the truck and say it is .but it's not even close to the Rebel let alone the power wagon.

Brad Hardy The 2019 Colorado ZR2 Bison has front and rear lockers, 5 skid plates, rock sliders, and front and rear steel bumpers so your power wagon and Rebel are beat in the off road business and beat at a midsize truck at that😂 and the airbags on that Rebel we’re a terrible design, getting a stick or rocks thrown up there and popping it, then you’re really screwed, the AT4 and TrailBoss were most certainly designed for off road so try that again man

hey i was just on the Chevy website messing around with the build and price tool , i configured a crew cab standard bed 4wd LT trim truck and on the packages options list (page (4)) a package called the "Diesel Off Road Package" was selectable , insinuating that maybe the diesel could be available in the LT trim. so that's exciting. Also under (Page (5)) "Exterior options" a new gear ratio option of 3.73 is available which has been unavailable in any half ton truck for a long time , when you select it , it removes the gas engine (which on the LT with trailering package is the 5.3 eco with 8 speed) but fails to tell you which engine is going in its place which to me again insinuates the diesel since you can't have the trailering package and the 4 cylinder simultaneously.. so the diesel will have a 3.73 in theory.

@@hochhaul Frame flex isn't a problem. Inherently, BOF vehicle are prone to flexing, especially open channel frames. In fact, they're designed to flex. While there is less rigidity, which might look bad to some that knows nothing, there actually overall greater strength. You can see this on semi tractors. Even with thicker gauge metal, they flex and jiggle like crazy. That's to prevent frame yield and help spread shock through the frame. It's just like they design buildings in earth quake zones. If you make the structure too stiff, it crumbles from the violent movement of the earth. If you allow movement, it dampens the forces in an earthquake. Another example would be airplane wings. You want them to flex in turbulence, not be too ridged and possibly snap.
@hochhaul
@hochhaul 5 жыл бұрын
@@Lamar-zx5tp Frame flex IS a problem when it flexes so much it allows the bed to slam into the cab and put a big gouge in it. The Tundra's frame is absurdly flimsy. It hurts handling, makes it feel less stable, it can distort the bed, damage the tailgate, accelerates body mount wear, etc. It's poor engineering.
@chokekoo983
@chokekoo983 5 жыл бұрын
@@hochhaul All frames flex, but that much oscillation is not mainly caused by frame flex, that's mainly harmonic oscillation of sheet metal bed over bumps. Under perfect conditions, the frequency of bumps will cause the bed to hit the cab. Toyota had a TSB for the issue on first model year trucks that updated the bushings to better control bed movement without any changes to the frame, but, really, they did it for PR reasons. It's not even a problem in the real-world conditions, it was just propaganda spread by Ford. In reality, even older Fords with c-channel frames did the same thing, and probably even newer ones with closed frames could do the same if you find the right harmonic frequency, but Ford never told you that, did they? Another thing, greater frame movement actually reduces body mount wear and frame wear in general. If a frame becomes too stiff, movement is made harsher and more likely to damage body mounts or other parts of the frame. Like the guy above said, structural rigidity isn't always a good thing. If it were it, then trucks would be unibodies and not body-on-frame. The whole purpose of a frame being separate from everything else is to allow dampening of movement and isolation of stress to the strongest parts rather than a transmission of stress to weaker parts.
