Proverbs to live by. I only recognized a few, because I didn't grow up in Jamaica. My mother taught me "never to hang my basket higher than I can reach it," meaning: don't live above your means.

I really enjoyed this video. It brought back memories and gave me some new ones. My favourite growing up was stories. Anancy, big boy, puss etc. my father always told this one about a cat who didn’t want anyone to talk to him saying he is his own man but when he became hungry he would come around saying “ mumma yu call me?😂”

You left out one more. "Cow nuh know use a 'im tail till it drop a grung. Translation, cow don't know the use of his tail until it drops to the ground. Meaning, you don't realize what you have until you lose it.

Hi Elite Jamaican, Number 6 on your list also means, "I want all the benefits, but don’t want to work for them."----Mi cum yah fi drink milk, mi nuh cum yah fi count cow. TRANSLATION: I came here to drink milk not to count cow. MEANINGS AND EXPLANATIONS: 1. I want all the benefits, but don’t want to work for them. 2. Don’t worry about things that don’t concern you.
