I had no idea that the British had that much influence on Jamaican food. 3:17 spiced buns 3:52 Cornish pasty ➡ patty 4:15 ackee 4:17 breadfruit I also didn't know that Indians introduced 5:09 mango 5:10 tamarind 5:11 jackfruit.

Good video but for the earliest part of Jamaican food history, you give too much credit to Europeans who were our oppressors, colonizers and enslavers. Foods that allegedly originated in Europe probably still originated from Africans who civilized Europe.

If you refuse to humble yourself before Jesus Christ and call upon his name and ask him to save you with contrition, you will be cast into the lake of fire with no rest, day or night. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Heb 9:27) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)

Jah know. We have to create our own & stop allowing others to create a bastardized versions of our goods & profit off of it while The Black African Majority Jamaicans not getting anything. Even so called traditional Jamaican food are oftentimes not even created by the Black Majority. We must change that. We must create our own goods & push it to success.

I enjoy you videos, but when you start with the slave and invaders bringing goats, ackee, etc, I think he needs to stop and think, where are the goat going to stay on a three month voyage, how does these foods stay fresh for three months without going spoil. Why would "slave" be allowed to bring anything on the ship. They were captured not going on vacation. Please stop repeating these false narrative about how our beautiful land of Jamaica. Jamaica have such bountiful food. Most of the time you research these people and country that "gave" her wonderful abundance the stories is so ridiculous. Keep doing what you, one day I may be watching a movie directed by you.
@EliteJamaica
@EliteJamaica 3 жыл бұрын
The slaves brought their menus .......meaning the knowledge of their cooking from back home......and yes they did indeed take livestock here and also herbs and spices .......most things were bought in seeds........I am not repeating narratives.... you need to do some research before you criticize. Thank you.

The seeds were hidden in the hair between toes, in the lip. How do you think they transported horses to the Americas? The new world had no domesticable mega fauna they were all brought over by Europeans. Obviously they had ships with only a few humans and the hold was expanded to carry cattle and other farm animals.
@hainleysimpson1507

Do you not know anything about old school shipping. You do know down at Kingston harbour before shipping containers were invented they unloaded live cattle manually on large ramps?

I gave this a thumbs down as although undoubtedly, this is well researched and indeed holds good content, the presenter's inability to enunciate in English, makes it difficult to listen to. Do remember that both languages have their own cadence and should not be crossed. Whilst, I would encourage him to continue doing his research and making videos, I would encourage him to either learn the English language or do a course in public speaking. This presentation could be way better. Thanks again for the researched content.
