Zep's grill cleaner you get at HD works better then the engine clean you get at the parts store. Environment friendly and being it is food safe you can cook your lunch on it on the way to the track.

I'll have to try that. I've never heard of that before.

Good video, I will just be very careful not to get water going into the areas where the driveshafts go also to avoid water going into the overflow / ventilation hole situated toward the top of the gearbox, it is normally a small tube that has a cap fitted over it. The slightest moisture finding its way into the gearbox will cause deteriorations.
@ExtremeDailyDrivers6 жыл бұрын
Excellent points. I definitely should have done a better job capping off those areas.

Degreaser doesn't attack rubber, it attacks aluminum and causes corrosion. The best and safest aluminum degreaser out there is Pine Sol.

Definitely a good idea to not plug holes for the CV shafts. Transaxles love when theres water and dirt inside of them lol

Problem with using steel wool it can put little steel deposits into the aluminum and cause rust. Use bronze wool next time just a friendly tip
@ExtremeDailyDrivers6 жыл бұрын
Good point. Thank you. I didn't even know bronze wool was a thing!
@rhinely8506 жыл бұрын
You can also find stainless steel 0000 grade wool. The micro particles that may transfer do not rust.
@Honda1k6 жыл бұрын
rhinely850 actually the stainless steel probably would work better it's more durable.
@rhinely8506 жыл бұрын
I made the mistake of using plain steel wool to refinish a wooden board once years ago. Started rusting soon after! Learned my lesson, use stainless!

Aluminum wool readily available

another good video, but please level the audio out before uploading. I don't know what you use to edit with, but if you can take the audio out you can run it through audacity (a free program) and master it

freshfrij0les Thank you, and you are right! I do all of this with a GoPro or Yi action camera and I do the editing on a Chromebook!! It’s amazing that I get this far!! Hopefully the future will bring better equipment and editing software, but right now it’s “Run what you brung!!”

Maybe do that on an old tarp or plastic to not soak the middle of your driveway concrete with grease and chemicals.

To much work. Way overkill. Forget the Pledge, just silly. Use Castrol Super clean or equivalent, then pressure washer. Forget what's left for a street driver.

If I would do it again, I would have too, but having never cleaned raw aluminum before that had 25-year old grease on it I wanted to ramp up the aggressiveness of the products. Now knowing what it takes, I would just skip to the end. Fair criticism. Thanks for watching.
