This car has a power to weight ratio of .27hp per pound. Which sounds bad but to put it into perspective, a car weighting 3600 pounds would have about 1000hp. My car weighting 4000 pounds would need 1100hp to be equal.

Civics, when built correctly, are absolute monsters. The platform just has SO MUCH potential and room for growth. They're light, highly modular, and cheap/easy to build. The only problem is most people fail at taking advantage of this and just abuse the car or do half assed/stupid builds. It's nice to see one done right. This is an insane sleeper.

+Robert Krzyzanowski I'm still getting used to that effect in my Abarth. It didn't do it so much stock, but I did a few mods that have added a few dozen more ponies, and it pulls on boost. I can't imagine with that much more power - I already have some roads I just simply cannot get into the throttle on because of the uneven surfaces causing too much tramlining. I'm sure an alignment might help, but it is definitely something I wasn't expecting. I remember back in the late 90s people where saying that 200HP was all you could effectively put down through the front wheels on a FWD car due to torque steer. Improvements have been made, sure, but I know what they were talking about now.
@1nv4d3r1991
@1nv4d3r1991 9 жыл бұрын
Alvin Brinson exactly! There is no hope for the small backroads and such. I just put a new set of et street r from mickey thompson and with alignment, energy suspension bushings, traction bars, boost by gear, and other little things I can put a lot of power down in second gear with minimal wheel spin. It surprises the hell out of me still from 2-4th and the numerous amount of cars I beat and their claimed power levels.

You can't call this a ricer because it is so clean from the exterior, a ricer car is one that is made to look a certain way without performance in mind, often at the cost of it, like lowering the car by cutting springs and having it scratch on every leaf on the road

So a serious question here, do Americans just build straight line cars, is that the most popular style of tuning, big HP big tyres (not this video) because do you not like to drive back roads as fast as possible and have cars that perform incredibly on curvy roads. I'm from the UK where we don't have as much straight line as the US so I can see it one way but i'm just asking is there not a huge handling tuning scene in america because most of the cars shown are great in a straight line but imagine being lethal trying to pace through bends.

understand that we have different types of streets and highways and roads than other places. so naturally a style or form is created., there's isn't as much track racing because tracks are hard to come about and pretty expensive. appreciate the diversity of every country's "scene". even if you aren't a fan of it. know it's different and how to see why and how. god bless

+beersforyearsTM I respect each and every country has their own scenes and styles I was in no way bashing your car culture because that's just a shitty attitude to have, I just wanted to know if cars built for back roads is a popular part of it all because I don't know much about the US scene in total and I just wanted to get some info.

My Abarth does the same thing - it tramlines pretty heavily under boost on narrow uneven roads. I guess it's due to weight coming off of the drive wheels combined with torque steer. That *is* one of the few Hondas I respect. Because the owner has his head in the right place on the car, not on silly ridiculousness.

my cousins car is almost like this with the sleeper look but only makes 500whp and also on an eg. so one day I go with his to eat and we asked this dude in a Corvette Z06 to race and his exactly words were " I'm not gonna race against you piece of shit car its just a waste of time, I'll win" then we followed him on the freeway and race and beat him lol the look on his face was priceless

overflow/ice box sits in hatch, bosch electric pump pushes water through heat exchanger hidden behind rear bumper with two fans connected to exchanger (pump/fan activated by rear defroster button), then goes to front through the big intercooler found behind the passenger headlight assembly under the hood, then returns to the rest of car.

+Robert Krzyzanowski For the sake of sleeper status, I think it's totally worth it though. I'm pretty sure the first thing any car guy looks for in a suspected sleeper is a front-mounted intercooling peeking through the front bumper. His workaround is awesome.

@1nv4d3r1991

at around 600ish level roughly 400ish on this setup. Got to love 9.6k redline to make up for the lack of torque.
@Rome1017Lights
@Rome1017Lights 9 жыл бұрын
+archinuk417 horsepower is measured by torque x rpm / 5252. on a dyno graph torque and hp always cross over at 5252, below that number torque is the higher figure and above it hp is higher. If this thing makes 600hp at lets say 8000rpm, it makes 394ft-lb at that same rpm. it could also make more torque down low, most cars make peak torque at around 5252. Id guess peak torque is around 460ft-lbs
@Rome1017Lights

probably around 450 tq. You don't want a lot of torque in a FWD vehicle. Torque is force needed to accelerate an object.. a lot of torque in something this light just creates a lot of unnecessary spinning.

Seems to behave more like a 300hp, my little 200hp all motor got more pull than that. I'm surprised no one asked for proof of this, I'm assuming electronic boost control to make it more drivable for daily use? Maybe no one likes the Hondas enough to care. Wish my interior looked that good.

hard to measure "pull" from a video unless you have another car next to it etc as a reference. boost by gear is awesome. keeps it tame because with a FWD car you are limited a lot more on the power able to put to the ground because of the lack of tire and blah blah blah.
