Not sure if you’ve done a video on Mac Dre, but if you haven’t please do. He’s one of the most fascinating cases in rap history. The man was immensely talented. He legit recorded his ENTIRE debut album from the FRESNO COUNTY JAIL over the phone in 92’. The lore behind his life is worth a deep dive. One of the best Gangster rappers of all time. The man was one of the leaders of a gang that robbed bank, and did his WHOLE 5 YEAR SENTENCE IN FEDERAL PRISON 10 TOES DOWN, never snitching despite being offered the chance to cut a deal to avoid prison. He was on a level 4 yard with the Mexican Mafia. The man was cutthroat. Mac Dre pioneered the Hyphy Movement and put the Bay Area on the map. He was ultimately killed by a rival in KC in 2004, in the midst of his prime. Had he not died he would’ve been BIGGER than E-40, Too-$hort, Keak Da Sneak, Andre Nickatona, Mistah Fab, and the other names in hip-hop from the bay. He died in 2004, and not even a year later in 2005 the Hyphy Movement he was at the forefront of EXPLODED with songs like E-40’s “Tell Me When to Go”, Keak Da Sneak’s “Hyphy”, and Mistah Fab’s “Super Sic Wit It”. The Bay Area went NATIONWIDE and took America by storm. He influenced BIG names in the game. Drake shouts him out in “The Motto”, G-Eazy shouts him out in “Calm Down”, on top of many more. His influence on rap and hip hop cannot be understated. He is a certified California legend and would probably be the most famous rapper to EVER come out of the bay if he was still with us. He’s been gone 20 years but you cannot go to a single club, wedding, or house party in California without hearing his songs. Check out “Feeling Myself”, “Since 84”, “Grown Sh*t”, “She Neva Seen”, “Get Stupid”, Early Retirement”, “Boss Tycoon” “Dipped When They See me”. The man’s discography is crazy. His lyrical ability is crazy, his humor was perfect. Give him a listen!

So wait? Because Trixx wasn’t a loud mouth and actin a fool drawin attention to himself he was “weird”? And made people suspicious off him?? The fuck? Bro, you’d think everyone would be more like Trixx. You know, NOT bragging about murdering someone on social media or starting fights over literally nothing. Being smart, being lowkey, not speaking about shit they done, not bringing the attention of Opps and Cops upon themselves. You’d think they’d be the literal opposite of how they actually are. Sounds like Trixx was the only one with any sense in the group. That’s the kinda dude you WANT in a gang. Lowkey, not drawing attention to himself, not acting a fool, observant, calm and collected. That’s a big part of why these guys get killed or caught up with a case. They just can’t seem to keep quite about their crimes, then they turn around and wanna act like they caught a case because of racism. Like nah, dude you literally bragged about robbing/killing/beating the shit out of someone all over social media, OBVIOUSLY you’re gonna catch a case you’re self snitching every time you post a tweet. And how some of his dudes talked about him after his death, dude what the fuck? Just goes to show, a lot of them don’t give a single fuck not just about lives in general but black lives in particular. They took advantage of this kid playing like they’re friends then the moment he’s of no use to them, in this instance dead, they say “fuck ‘em”. Nah, man. Fuck you. But I guess common sense don’t pay the rent, and it certainly don’t grow on trees. Charity is a rarity. Almost as much as modesty.

Man, it's kinda sad watching that part about Trixx, he clearly was just a kid that was brought up in the wrong environment. He just wanted to belong to something and truly showed the innocence that came with youth. Had he been raised in a decent environment, he probably would've just been a normal kid. Very sad how his own crew dissed him after he died. Shit is way too fucked up. RIP.

Ross I can't tell you how iconic this time was for young kids in my area all over the U.S and Canada growing up hearing these guys music and seeing their lifestyles. The social media posts, the diss tracks, the designer drip, seeing people on being put on clothing as a tribute, the instagram filters they would use, and the music was SO GOOD, it was at it's absolute peak... what a time to be alive. It honestly made you want to go do some illegal sh*t with your boys and slide on some opps in traffic and catch a body fr, it was so glorified that you almost wanted to be part of it, and those who were already involved in that kind of lifestyle just got even deeper into it because of this time period. But now that i'm grown up and i've done time I realize that it's not a life for anyone that leads to anything good and alot of my friends have died from that sh*t. It's no game. Seeing this documentary was enlightening because I've always wondered how these guys stories turned out, I had a foggy view of the cab drivers death in LA's case and didn't know everything went down like how it did. Seeing the history of everything was really cool to see and this was very well put together, thank you for doing this.
