I’ll start 2023 by saying that, with today’s technology, ill-rating amplifiers simply should not still be a thing. They’re not necessarily even bad amplifiers if they could just be rated properly, which isn’t difficult to do. The shape is peculiar.

In the west it's not even so bad. Local thai amps(local made for local market) and pa speakers get like 90x rating. Like the rails inside the amp are 30 volts and the sticker is 3000w. On the other hand you can buy everything to fix them at a counter including speaker cones, rubbers, coils, transistors for the amps, transformers (the big party speakers are fairly sensitive so a stack on a pickup with a generator does make a lot of noise).

I have brought this point up with the boss amplifiers a couple of times. When you look at the build of their amplifiers, these are solid pieces of equipment built like tanks. I doubt very few people that use them have had a solder joint brake or component come loose due to vibration. The bad part is they've so vastly overrated their amplifiers that no one and the car audio community is going to take them seriously anymore. Now that they have gone all these years with his vastly overrated components and devalued their brand, they can't afford or charge enough to put out a decent quality head unit. The head unit is the starting point for most people getting into car audio and if you burn them on the first step they're not going to choose you for the second step which is amplifiers and speakers. The fact of them trying to increase sales is going to lead to the end of their company.

At 3:13 of the video I’m gonna take a guess without knowing the fuse rating for the amp. Typically the budget amps do their supposed 4 ohm rated power but at their lowest impedance rated. And, typically if we multiply the price by 10 we will be near their output capability similar to multiplying the onboard fusing by the same amount of 10. I didn’t see the rating you showed as I’m on my phone and it was too small so let’s go with pricing and guess 1200 to 1800 watts uncertified. I’m gonna watch now and see if I’m close. Yeah i had a razor series amp (2300) and it was fine. The 2500 popped every time i turned the volume down to nothing

Reminds me of the Soundstream D-Tower amps from around 2010(ish).

That amp might see 6k watts,. If it fell into a nuclear reactor. Maybe. Good that you take the time to do a thorough and honest review of these amps though. At least those in the know can make a much more informed decision based on prices found.

The outer case is completely isolated from ground or positive. The board is held on the case with 3 screws into plastic. The input board is also isolated. The backs of the transistors are isolated from the heat sink via Kapton tape and heat sink grease. I would wager that the PCB planes underneath the strong backs holding the transistors to the heat sink are not grounded either. You should test your notion of shorting, by actually having it powered on and trying to short it as you said.

Ha! I’ll let you test your theory but you may be correct

I most certainly think that it is a unique design for sure I like it enough to go out and buy one if it actually had put out 6,000 Watts thank you big d whiz I most certainly curious though to what other power acoustics put out as I have one that stated that it supposedly puts a thousand

Thanks for the review. Feel bad for anyone that bought that for actual use.

That's funny, I saw this like a week ago on Amazon and laughed when I saw it and immediately wondered if you would dyno this thing... I already knew it would fail 🤣🤣🤣

Should test it a 1k maybe better number.? Makes a good wheel chalk

When there's trouble in the certified test it means the amp can barely do 1% THD. I guess for subs not a huge deal but for highs, it sounds like garbage and the popping would be a deal killer. Thanks for the review.

You know the aesthetics and the design are kinda cool but those dreaded angle terminals would be perfect for the setup and second the way the inconsistent power numbers means that's a dirty dirty amp. They should rename that the unfamed Tower of Power 😂. Thanks Big D

I dig the design, I'm sick of everything looking like everything else, creativity matters but so does accurate ratings
