Great video, the best. But initially surprised not to see drivers with helmet or race suit. In my day, you also needed a 'Speed' licence for hill climbs and sprint. Or better still, a 'Race' licence. Brian Evans this was a private event, hence why there was no official timing going on and no requirement to wear a helmet or safety gear. In fact, I had to remove my helmet on my first run after the Clark of the course instructed me to, as it might encourage me to drive in an unsafe manner!

This was posted on the Jensen club site, and after taking my Interceptor up Shelsey Walsh a few days ago for the very first time, makes me really appreciate this video. These hill climbs are hard, very steep and you can not see where you are going, Harry keeps pointin g this out, but the videos don't show what it feels like actually doing it. You are in your pride and joy, ragging it to the best of your ability knowing you will have to drive it home again. You don't want it going home on a trailer. The bottom line is these people are using these priceless cars, and my respect goes out to them for doing so. I hate seeing them in garages just being polished. My highlight is the 250SWB, probably the most beautiful car ever made. Thanks Harry, will keep watching your space, as it is just so well presented.

I love the way that Harry makes the viewer feel like a personal guest at these rather exclusive events. Always good to see expensive metal doing what it was built (and notionally bought) for. Needed more Invacar action going up the hill though! ;) The green chassis paint on the Lotus would probably be zinc chromate, usually used in WWII(etc) aircraft as an anti-corrosion primer. Nasty stuff to use.

Thank you for this, Harry. Prescott Hill Climb is one of my happiest memories from when I was at boarding school in Cheltenham in the 1960s. It was less than 10 miles away and was an easy bike ride at weekends. The guy across the lane from my boarding house had two (yes, two) Bugatti Type 35s and he used to tune them up early on Saturday mornings. Beautiful sound. That's why, when I was dragged off to watch the Isadora Duncan movie and she was strangled when her scarf caught in the wheels of a Bugatti-looking car, my sympathies were with the car.
