In case you’re tripping like I was the timing guide bolts are 89+-17 in lb and also after 2010 you will not have an upper timing chain guide nor an oil squirter. Sorry not trying to nitpick but I’m going through the process and trying to help out anyone else going through the same ordeal.

So I'm in the middle of replacing my head gasket and I get around to the timing part and the chain I took off has no off-color links, assuming I just count them between the marks? If so does anyone know how many links between each one?
@blackmesaresearch25 жыл бұрын
5:36 - TQ specs for these bolts are not 17 in/lbs! The FSM (11B-5) lists "Timing chain tensioner bolt" as 89 in/lbs, with a tolerance of +/- 17 in/lbs.

Do they all have that oil squirter for the timing chain? I’m rebuilding my buddies engine and never saw that coming off? His is an 08’ so it’s one of the first years and also the top chain guide between the cams, 99% sure it didn’t have one of those
@neogeo64646 жыл бұрын
I believe it was added and the top chain guide was removed in later rev.

@@pheonixfps9248 my chain stretched and skipped a tooth so I need to
@pheonixfps92486 жыл бұрын
Ok, chains don't stretch. What happens is the links wear due to poor servicing or poor lubrication. They generally don't skip teeth either unless the cog teeth are severely worn too. The front timing cases are removable in the engine bay.
@neogeo64645 жыл бұрын
yes it can, other videos on youtube with it in. yes the version 1 chains stretched, mitsubishi changed design later in 2011.

I guess he can't read service manual correctly. the torque says 89 in-lb +/- 17 in-lbs. so the torque range is 72-106 in-lbs. Devin you are vastly under torqueing the bolts. I know this video is kinda old, but Devin is wrong about timing torque values! for all those looking this up, he has misread the service manual. good video otherwise.

I've never went by standards on torque.... non ,zero ,late do it a gain .. never gon to spec and my cars have running perfectly for 10+ years.... whis paying you for this" tourqe to spec" bullshit? I guess u wouldn't know. Cause you just follow lead... just saying in a rude way, not everything has to be this or that.( I get it your covering your ass.) I've used tourqe wrench and I havent..haven't... it's all worked out.
