9999/10 this is an absolute masterpiece. I love how you kept a 6 cyl Nissan engine rather than dropping in a small block like almost everyone else, and you still make 600 hp. my god, this is totally gorgeous. its perfect

I had a 1974 Datsun 260z that i raced in C class production in the 1970's. Then we were able to get the HP up to 300 and, in that era long ago, it was the quickest car around. I could hit 165 mph. I miss that car. I love your car. Well done!

Bad ass Datsun dude. My father built a datsun roadster 2000, with a turbod sr20 in it.
@tscooter227 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking, I don't think they ever used the Datsun name overseas. I think the US market changed from Datsun to Nissan around 1985. The same year it changed, Nissan finally figured out how to build a car that doesn't rust in 5 years. They were horrible back in the 70s. Ah... the joys of snow and salt. Salt in particular.
@subarublue26587 жыл бұрын
They used the name Datsun in America, and the reason was because Nissan sounded to close to a slang word the Americans used for the jananese during WW2.
@Joe11Blue7 жыл бұрын
Nips or Nipponese is not a slang word. It's the name of the Japanese from the southern and western region of the island chain. The Datsun name was used, because they did not want to tarnish the Nissan name in the US in case the brand failed.

240z cars were from 1970 to 73 and the ONLY year the 260z was made in 1974. In 1975 the first 280z was made and went to 78. 1979 was first 280zx all redesigned with a longer front to help stabilize the z cars at high speeds. The early z's would start to have a floating feel at high speeds. I have owned a z all my life and build them and currently own half a dozen. 72 240z was my first car and I still have it. I have a 79 280zx w 8k original miles and 2 83 280zxt's along with a 90 z32 300zx and a 91 300zx tt. My tbucket has a r32 skyline rb26 powering it so yeah I love the old Nissan's lol

Here in Australia we had the 240Z from '70 to '73. The 260Z & 260Z 2+2 from '74 to '77. The 280ZX from '78 onwards. We never got the 208Z. Also right from the start (1970) we had 5 speed manual gearboxes. I owned a '73 orange (kalahari tan) 240Z from 1980 - 1996. Tiger.

@SimonWorlds6 жыл бұрын
I would prefer an LS3 600HP version of this, but this is still very nice, I would just prefer the weight reduction of the LS over RB these days as I like circuit driving and always look for weight balance in a car.
@barthoharmse1126 жыл бұрын
Ls3 crate motor is lighter than RB, but fully dressed they weight almost exactly the same depending on the setup, regardless the RB does the datsun more respect tradisionally, though as a powerhouse ofcourse nothing beats a V8
@SimonWorlds6 жыл бұрын
Bartho Harmse I think you need to check your weights again, i can tell you from looking at both on a set of scales (fully dressed with alt, manifolds, turbos for the Rb etc, that there is an 87kg difference in favour to the LS3.
@SimonWorlds6 жыл бұрын
Bartho Harmse yes I do agree that the Rb lends itself to being more original and fitting, it should always be an inline 6 if it is to remain close to its heritage.

fatassdork Aah... And I bet the cops are not that plentiful? right? I don't see that much of them here were I live either... but I need to do a "inspection" every year... and wheels outside the "car body" will not let that pass... then my car would not be road worthy... and every cop I'll pass will stop me...
@normalsalaryman7 жыл бұрын
in australia where this guy in vid come from it is not allowed having tire wider than the body...especially in VIC(melbourne) and NSW cops is total jack ass....and the rules about modified car also pain in the arse...even for wheel size is limited to 2inch bigger than the stock and the tire speed code also fine able..legaly lowest car is 100mm from ground, even a BOV is restricted,(open filter+BOV) is no no,you have to chose one only out of those 2option lol...i never been to europe but i suppose in US they have more freedom of what can they do with their car...unless you life in some asian country which there are rules about modifyng car BUT the cops is simply dont care, even if you drive200Km/h in 40km zone....BUT the frikin potholes is scatered everywhere thats why they drove so slow lmao...i call them natural speed limit lol..
