Hi Wayton, I just wanted to tell you that two months ago I was sitting at silver 2. No matter how hard I tried I just could not rank up and it was getting really frustrating. Then I watched this video and my entire perspective of the game changed. I really took these tips to heart, and approached the game with a fresh mindset. I now do 15 minutes of free play every time I start, even if all I want to do is smash the ball as hard as I can lol. Then a few casual matches, then ranked as you suggested. Today, two months after being stuck at silver 2, I'm now in plat 1 div 3. So I just wanted to thank you for showing me there is hope! Haha. The other day I even solo queued a 2v2 gold tournament and won! First tourney win ever! Tl;dr - make an honest effort to follow these tips and you'll see the results!

I started yesterday and immediately remapped all of my controls to what probably sounds crazy to most people. I effectively have it set up like an RC car/plane now and it feels SO much better. Left stick - pitch & yaw Right stick - throttle & roll ZL - jump ZR - boost R - powerslide Not having to use my thumb for a bunch of actions, not having to hold ZL to rotate in the air, and having proper 6 DoF controls is SOOOO much more intuitive to me.

If I could add to the vocab section, I would add "commit," "contest," and "double commit." and "whiff" :P -Committing to the ball is when you choose to go for a hit on the ball, especially if it's a clutch moment like a making a shot, save, or clear. It doesn't matter whether or not you touch the ball--as long as you try to get a hit, you've committed. -Contesting the ball is essentially the same as challenging the ball, but contesting usually refers to when someone is going up for a high aerial and you are trying to challenge the ball in the air. -A double commit is when two players on the same team commit to the ball. This is bad. It disrupts rotation, puts multiple players out of position, and often leaves the net open on defense. -Whiffing, is, well, whiffing. Also, the term "Tactical whiff," can be used when you accidentally miss the ball, but that actually fakes out the opponent. Also the term "whifty-whifty" is used when two players are going for a 50-50, but both miss the ball because they're trying to anticipate what the other will do.

for anybody watching in 2023 or later, there is slow motion play in free play now as well but you can customize how fast or slow the game plays. it works on xbox, ps4/5, switch, ?steam deck?, and pc. go to settings while in free play and its close to the top.

most of the time, you get that because you're feeling overwhelmed and infuriated by that. the best way to play good in RL is to keep level headed and calm. i can attest to this from experience.

I've been playing since it was free to play and I always want to get back to it. Didn't realise what the fuss was about until I tried it and now I'm very much into it. I really wanted to pick up on your first point about losing and still enjoying it. What gets me is the quitting after going a goal down. Half the time, it ends up going the other way but it's strange behaviour to me. I only play unranked for now, so I can get experience and don't want to screw a ranked game up but it happens a lot. The way I see it, the more you play and the more varied the opposition, the better you'll get but people seem to only want the win. I've joined matches where it's 6-0 down and still carry on to the end, because I'm always learning. The winning is great but the actual game itself is much more enjoyable. I enjoy the occasions where I've got only bots left on my side as well, because, again, it's a challenge. How else can you progress without pushing yourself. Tl;dr: good points!

Actually having been a dedicated soccer player for quite a while I had already learned the different strategies , rotations, when to attack/defend, giving your teammate space and being ready to intercept, etc so when me and a friend had started playing for the first time I found myself coaching him how to play soccer and translate it to rocket league

For cold handed players: eat more food, do some quick exercises. Your hands are cold because your circulation/blood flow is bad, just trust me. You'll feel much better when your blood is flowing

I was playing an online match with 2 persons we was lose 2-3. I scored a goal and maked assist, then the opponents scored a goal. We went to overtime. I make 3 saves and 1 epic save, then one of my teammates scored a goal. I took the MVP
