Dan, love your message, passion, and knowledge. Honestly one of the most important channels on KZbin, thank you for sharing the flock with us and not sequestering them in a lifeless dusty room. Im so grateful to exist on this blue spec in the universe at the same time as you, I’m sorry your days have been challenging, but while the days may be slow the years go by quickly, and the trying times will be memories before you realize. Too far to drive up for a cup, one day I’ll make the pilgrimage, until then here is a tithing to the ministry . ❤

Wish i could help, but i too are divorced and left with double expenditure in this life now. But thanks for this video. I live for the music. The rock’n’roll, the jazz… so much. I feel rich because of that.

Dan: I am in the similar boat as you and @OMW66, now a single parent with two girls. Hang in there. It will get better.

OK, you got me with that Harlem Banjo record. Cliff Jackson on piano one of the early greats. My passion for pre WW2 Black music is similar to yours for that after.

Another great James Clay record is with David Fathead Newman - The Sound of the Wide Open Spaces. Shout-out to Dick Morgan, check out Morris Nanton , another forgotten pianist.

You mentioned Jimmy Smith. I just been getting into him due to a live session where he played with cannonball adderely I think. Man he adds some amazing real funky yet sophisticated stuff on hat organ.

19:53 Just a minor quibble, but Keter Bett's first name (a nickname) is pronounced Keeter, like 'heater.' I had the privilege and joy of hearing him play in the Washington, D.C. area, on numerous occasions in the 80s and 90s. (By the way, thank you for your channel. Keep up the good work.)

Great episode Dan.You piqued my interest in that Elmer Snowden Harlem Banjo record so much that I've just ordered an OJC copy from discogs. I'm a bluegrass fan so it will be interesting to hear the Banjo in a Jazz setting. Glad your health is on the up.
