I have this weird propeller-nosed wood topwater lure my dad gave me forever ago, I’m scared to use it cause I don’t wanna lose it haha. Maybe try some lighter weight kastmasters? They’re a straight up trout killer, and I’ve even caught a few bass by reeling slow with a little finesse

I've used the snap beans before and they are fun to use. I know it sounds weird, but try running them in tandem. I used to rig 2 on a bent piece of thin wire (long before I ever heard about the Alabama rig) and some 6# floro. I don't know if it makes any sense to anyone else but I always try to create a plausible story for my tandem rigs. Sometimes I make it look like a minnow chasing a bug, sometimes it's a small fish chasing a smaller one, sometimes it's just a simulation of a small group of schooling minnows. I've noticed when I'm reeling in fish that often the fish are not alone. I've also noticed that very natural looking minnow lure will sometimes have a school of minnows following the lure. That got me thinking about how much more effective having two or more minnow lures which appear to be mirroring each others movements could be. Anyway get some thin wire to keep them separated and start experimenting with patterns and designs. I have had good luck with a set up of uneven sides with a larger slender minnow closely chasing one of these snap bean types, and it will produce bites on both lures. I try to make them as close together as possible without getting tangled constantly.

I love those little bean crankbaits. I have one name brand one (Strike King Bitsy Minnow), and I've caught a bunch of fish on it. Recently I got a bunch of cheap ones with a single treble hook, some with a more centered hook, some with a rear hook. I noticed the rear hook ones have a horrible hook up ratio, but the center hook ones do fine. The cheap ones actually have a better action than the name brand, but feel much lighter in the water (almost like you're just reeling in the line itself).

With Gerbers track record of quality and the pricing of all of their new fishing tools, it's a hard pass for me . They are a solid 3 times the cost of what I'd pay to gamble on their quality. $70 for a nipper and tether? No way. For that money you can get a Leatherman Micra and tether for your vest and get a Leatherman Squirt for the tackle box (or a cheaper full sized multitool).

Local species here in England love the cheap ones. I paid approx $6.50 for a pack of ten from China, off EBay, including shipping. They work very well in shallow water. I've changed their treble hook for an in-line single.

Landed my new PB on the 5'6" this year (rainbow trout) also had the pfluger president reel on it. Lost one that I think is bigger (took the hook and killed the 4lb leader) on my 6'6" paired with my also new shimano sustain 2500hg. The shimano is the nicest/smoothest reel ive ever used, even the drag is exquisite. pairs quite dreamily with the rod. I just wish shimano still made a sustain 1000 size.

Maybe I need to start up a fishing channel...🤔🤔🤔
@mswen19835 жыл бұрын
One thing about the cheap versions is you can throw them where the fish are without worrying so much about getting snagged. But that doesn't make quite as much difference with UL baits as when you're tossing bigger baits for bass, musky, of saltwater species.

@@lordoffishtown4455 I'm from Australia as well but BFS is short for Bait Finesse, which basically it's a style of fishing where you use a specialised baitcast rod and reel that can cast super light lures with ease. @Wayne-hs6gm Жыл бұрын
I throw mine on 12lb mono, and I recommend putting a 1/16oz split weight 3inches ahead of the lure on the line. It adds weight for my casting and makes it slow sink for deeper fishing.

Swivels in size 00 and 000 are working most of the time fine.But the very tiny lures are just to sensible,and even that much amount of weight could cripple the action.If you are using Fluorocarbon leader,witch I highly recommend, then a Rapala loop knot is the ultimate solution.

Both are fantastic lures. But none is (intentionally) made to be better than the other fishcatchingwise. It’s all about quality. The Yo-Zuri has better hooks and better split rings. It maybe won’t shatter as easy either if you accidently throw it on to a rock.

In a competition like this I think it's more random chance of either lure catching more or bigger fish. Overall it appears that the more expensive lure really wasn't worth the extra cost.
@mikecoaker51335 жыл бұрын
also I think once you get a few bites it attracts in other fish. hence why he starts getting one a chuck. n pond fish can often turn desperate once they know there's some food items about. I've noticed they don't really care about getting caught time after time either...if they are little. as long as they are stealing the food before the other fish. I've caught the same fish several times over in a very short space of time in a busy pond. 3 or 4 times in a row. not becuase they are stupid they know damn well they will get caught. mind boggling.
