I do mostly bell target but why not spring mount the plate behide to hit a old fire bell. would take more than a half shot to ring and no electronic to hit

Strap a pair of safety glasses over the sensor, Tilly's Gunstocks shot at them on a video and couldn't get through them easily. Interesting design, thanks for sharing.

Fantastic video, and what a great addition to home target shooting. Im thinking of getting into HFT but there are currently no clubs that im aware of in my location (Gwynedd North Wales) and im thinking of buying some Hatsan preowned rifles At44-10 and possible BT65 RB..not quite decided. Thank you for your informative channel and videos.

dot dot dot DOT, dot dot, dash. You had me confused, because what you said was SIT and it kind of swamped the camera so I had to go back and have another look. My first reaction to both of these targets is that the clean front plate doesn't leave a mark, so you're not sure how close you were, or the direction you were off. It's nice to see someone doing something different with targets though. I guess you could always spray the front plate with matt white paint so the missed rounds would leave a tell. A polycarbonate cover for the indicator would be easy enough to work out. PC coverplates are sold in the welding industry as clear front covers for welding lenses (108 x 51mm). It would probably work for anything up to and including a subsonic 40g bullet.
@hftshooter3 ай бұрын
I do normally spray my targets yellow to see the misses. The smaller target has a silver coating on the front plate that shows shots well, but not sure if that will be on all of them. Your poly carbonate idea is good I,ll have to try and get some. 🙂👍

I have the stainless biathlon target with flip upp's on 30 yards. smalest hole six millimeters , biggest one inch. Perfect for training 👍

Not too bad. If you're going to have the indicator the other way round, just get rid of the band and just have a metal pocket that it can slip into. Not sure how clear the indicator would be in the back in bright sunshine. In your garden it was in a dark shaded area.
@hftshooter3 ай бұрын
Could put some sort of reflector behind it. They could of course included a deflector on top of the front plate with small holes or slots. 🤔
@JohnPrice-x8w3 ай бұрын
With that level of sensitivity, you could have an audio output so when the target was struck, a HIT audio message will be clearly heard. The sensor could be mounted on the rear of the plate well out of the way of any striking pellets.
@hftshooter3 ай бұрын
Not very garden friendly though John. Yes the sensor does work on the back of the plate and can be seen clearly at distance if you have an appropriate surface behind for the light o bounce off.

Another great video mate! What gun rests do you use as I need something sturdy to make sure my steyr is tack driving! Also what table you using?
@hftshooter3 ай бұрын
Thanks. The front stand is from Vector Air, it's on their website and I made the shooting table myself; a half sheet of 18mm ply for the top and scraps from a wooden bed frame for the legs. 👍

Not very, a well aimed pellet would kill it. In the US the sensors are only 10 dollars, so replaceable. I've asked the target company if they can supply spares.

Very detailed review again Jeff. Can't see it being much good for anything other than sub 12. Powder burners would knock the back plate for six, even a 22LR subsonic still has almost 80ft-lbs at 100 yards. If I took it to our range the first thing that would be shot would be the strobe, followed by Oops sorry 🤣🙂 (for clarification, the HIT indicator would be fine for powder burners at longer range on a more appropriate steel plate)

Just wondering what size washers did you use for the paddles on the HFT practice target?
@hftshooter2 ай бұрын
The ones I used were what I had most of in my shed. I just measured them and they're 16mm with 8mm holes. Anything with a hole big enough for the side spigots will do.

@cliveleggett60743 ай бұрын
Here’s a suggestion for the target company. Make the flashing light infrared and have a receiver that can be next to the shooter. It could talk / squeak or anything they chose. Having several vibration sensors to one IR transmitter would tell you which hole you hit… giving scores. Or, replace the IR transmitter with a radio transmitter would eliminate the risk of damage from a pellet impact
@cliveleggett60743 ай бұрын
Personally I’d replace the vibration sensor with a micro switch on a floating plate. Less complex and cheeper.
@cliveleggett60743 ай бұрын
Having seen more of the video, definitely move to switches to remove the need to separate the holes from the impact plate due to vibration.
@hftshooter3 ай бұрын
To be fair, they only make the metal bits. The sensor is shipped in from the US. Might be worth making your suggestions to Hornady in the US who make the sensor.
