Yet another BSA! Its basically the same gun as the R10, The people at BSA haven't changed with the times. Come on BSA do something to make a change to a very old style of gun. I brought one 20 years ago, nothing has changed. We are bored, wit the same thing all the time. I brought an FX DRS because it is something new. Come on BSA Great british company, think outside of the box. Then I will buy one!

If you're going to use the gun for pesting, you should test the sound with a SPL meter set to dBC. Animals don't hear the way humans do.

Looks nice and simple (and therefore effective). An improvement would be yellow paddles for visibility and maybe a pellet catching tray ?

Can recommend Eaglevision dovetail to piccatinny adaptors.Use them on the wife's S510 US. You can't bridge over the magazine so have used 2 separate adaptors and lined them up so that the slots line up as one rail

Looks to be a cracking find that one. Either looked after very well or not been shot a lot. Eaglevision to a specific adapter from 13mm dovetail to picatinny, or you can get small adapters that fit inside each scope mount from Amazon. Jeff, great vlog, mate . You're a lucky man getting that rifle at that price early Christmas present 🎉 Yes, i think you should do a vlog on getting started with a new rifle. All the ins and outs also, no one really touches on the subject of storing your rifle at home what the Law states and what you allowed to do . Looking at the Gov website, it gets quite confusing . What is a safe method of storage out of harms way, etc. Have a great Christmas, and enjoy the new rifle .

I don't want to be unkind but the S410 is a way better rifle for hunting. The CLX stock has a to short front end for comfortable off hand shooting and could easy be 4 inches longer. Cheers!
@hftshooter6 күн бұрын
Thanks for commenting. Well, I guess I'll have to see. Gun fit is a personal thing and I'm quite short so the length of pull feels okay to me. Yes, the S400 is a good hunting rifle, but mines .177 and I wanted a .22 rifle. The Ultra has a very good reputation and I wanted to try a BSA so I guess time will tell. All will be revealed in my future review I guess. 🙂👍

Hope it works out well, I know a couple of people who swear by their R10's (although they have had to do some tweaks)not being regulated is probably a bonus tbf..and if it's a good BSA barrel you'll have a great little gun..interesting video. 22 is my preferred calibre and my pcp is .177 so I'm in the market for a replacement 👍👍

I have one, love it, I am six foot two, it’s not too short for me. Shooting style is personal thing, Standing I use target style and have no problems.

@chrisfs1504 күн бұрын
@AdamMcCool-01 I think bsa can still hold their own against the competition... You just have to pick the right model, I wouldn't go so far as to say all bsa are rubbish however some models defintely are.. I don't think you can go badly wrong with an older british made version?

Good video, never gotten into the whole 1.77 - .22 thing as was given a used .22 B.S.A as a kid in the 70's and shot that in woodlands. Never heard of fur and feather thing either as the old B.S.A shot everything no problem from rabbits, rats, squirrels & birds for our old pet Greyhound as a treat plus we didn't have a telescopic sight back then but we did have excellent vision. One thing i do miss is our old shop called Rods & Guns back in the 70/80's, we all saved our pocket money and put it together so we could buy a tin of pellets or a pint of maggots if we wanted to fish or shoot. How times have changed now as you don't see a couple of kids just wandering off with an air-rifle into woodlands because of the way society has gone, some nosey Ol' Bag would be on the blower and report them to the Police nowadays. Cheers, interesting video.

I have learned that there is a lot of discrepancy between Rifles. But my problem is I don’t even have a good starting point. Do you have a 30 caliber and if so, what regulator setting and power wheel setting did you find to work?

I don't have a 30 cal sorry. May I suggest you visit the ghost owners group on Facebook and ask there. There's a lot of shooters there who may be able to help you.

Just purchased and waiting on delivery of the 17cm catcher. I shoot indoors in my flat down the length of the hallway to the back wall of my kitchen. Can't wait to hear the ting ting ting noise it makes, certainly won't be filling it with putty or carpet or i wouldn't have bothered buying it as i may as well have just kept shooting targets stuck on the kitchen cupboard doors 🤣. Bloody springers!. Spent years chasing the ultimate tune must have spent a fortune!. Looking back the most consistent rifles and the ones i had the best results with were a 97kt and a tx200hc both bloody standard but with thousands of rounds put through them firing cycle not as good as the tuned rifles crap in comparison in fact but always accurate always consistent!!. I was still rubbish but an equal 7th at the worlds and a 2nd at a round of the uk championships were with standard guns!!. Maybe the manufacturers know something we dont lol!!.

I hear you mate. It always bugs me when people are asking about tuning straight after buying a new rifle without shooting it first to see if it's okay.

I just finished running this test but the FPS never peaked and start to fall off. I Started at 80 bar and tested thru 180 bar, FPS climbed continuously from 784.13 to 978.13. I would like your thoughts on this....
@hftshooter8 күн бұрын
All these rifles, even the same models, seem to vary so much. I was following the sub12 airgunners guidance and my results were different to theirs. No rhyme or reason to it. You just need to tweak to find the power sweet spot where you're getting optimum accuracy with your chosen pellet. That's often at a lower setting than you think. 👍
@stevekiemele99511 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t recommend foam under the forend. Your elevation will vary as the foam compresses. The cant will vary too.
@hftshooter11 күн бұрын
Thanks for the advice Steve. Foam rests are already in use on the UK circuit. We're talking very dense foam here that's not easily compressed. 👍

I never imagined they was so much engineering involved in bench rest shooting. I wonder how much money people spend setting themselves up in this sport. As a pensioner interested in shooting I’ve never been able to find out how much surplus money you’d need to have in order to shoot a rifle on a range. I life in Nottingham and every club within 20 miles is fully subscribed and there is no where to shoot. No people to talk too and get advise. I bought an air rifle from vector air and they were brilliant but that’s a long drive for a partially disabled person. But looking at your set up and all the tools and equipment you have I’d guess it’s thousands of pounds outlay to achieve your level. Way beyond my state pension. But I still enjoy a few hours in my garden being as quiet as possible. I made a silent target holder melting down old roof lead in a baking tray and I shoot from inside a shed 25 m out and it’s hard to notice from a distance the sound made. But I’d love to be able to stretch out and calculate hold over and under for 15 - 100 m and find a perfect pellet. Enjoyed watching and respect to your engineering knowledge to machine all this kit. My front rest is an old cardboard box with a scrunched up towel at the rear stock and I make a fist in my hand hard and softer to raise and lower lol. I’ll never make the finals.
@hftshooter12 күн бұрын
It's great to hear that you're finding a way to shoot. It's a shame that you've not been able to find a club to join as all the camaraderie and banter certainly adds something to the sport. As to set up costs, you may be surprised about how little I spend on my equipment. All but one of my rifles ( a cheap Chinese underlever springer) are second hand and bought at bargain prices. If you've seen any of my other videos you'll soon discover that 'bargain basement' are my middle names. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂👍

Get rid of the front bag, replace it with a three inch wide platform,, then fix a flat plate to the underside of the forearm, this should stop things wobbling about. That is pretty much the way NSRA Benchrest shooting is done, except they don’t allow a back bag, you support the heel with a gloved hand. Proper shooting.
@hftshooter13 күн бұрын
Hi David, I'll certainly be giving your flavour of benchrest a go at some time. This is from someone who shoots HFT up-the-peg with a springer and the butt in the shoulder; as you say "proper shooting!" 🙂👍
