I subscribed to your neighbors youtube channel. Its great to have neighbors that take the time to help one another for sure. And those raccoons, lordy, we killed off maybe 14 of them this year from the farm in Iowa because they got into the coup and caused a huge mess. Took the pelts to one of the Reservations nearby so they could use them. Hope that was the last of them this year. Great video Heath and RPR!

It's going to be a long winter and it looks as though you've been successful in completing many critical tasks that will directly impact the family in terms of needs. Glad to see you getting a plan together for the new property and working out the thinning of the trees on the bottom part. With all of that wood, you'll be plenty warm in the shop to do other projects in between pushing snow. Thanks for letting us tag along Heath, you and the family stay safe.

JudithB We dropped a 50' oak on Saturday, and filled the truck with the canopy wood and about 10' of the trunk. Probably go back asap to get the rest of the log. Meawhile I am stacking and moving wood to the stacks, so we have room to work around the splitter. The cooler dry weather is making this an enjoyable chore, and I figure I may have to start the stove soon. I seen to be more sensitive to the cold now, old age is not fun!!! I plan to paint the stake sides on my yard trailer, and the old handle on the wheel barrow, and the new one. Then I will repair it. I do some mowing in between, and so dry the dirt flies. Burn ban is on so getting the grass cut is a priority too. Another week until possible rain. We are protecting our chickens from possums and raccoons have been see in the valley below, hope they stay there!!!!

@simonsays27742 жыл бұрын
I think firewood could also be an additional source of income in the future by selling it. Each year it grows more than you can consume. You can, after all, plant other deciduous trees to make your forest less susceptible to disease. With monocultures you have the problem that all trees are affected by fungal infestation. Greetings from a German forest owner ;-)

Its nice having helpful neighbors, he's got equipment you need, and I bet a lot cheaper rate than the rental yard...if its anything like people around my area, they either charge very little maybe enough for fuel, or don't charge at all, just so they get the enjoyment of playing with their fancy toys LOL. Have a great week RPR family.

Video idea for us gear heads who love your videos for the "trucks and equipment". Make a video going over all your past and present trucks and equipment. Tell us about each item and what happened to each and or why you sold it. I was looking for the outcome to the k30 and eventually found where you said you sold it and the skid loader but would love a outline video covering them all. Your old red Ford single cab from the beginning of the channel is why I found y'all in the beginning. 5 years later I still love y'all's stuff

Brazing is an adhesion. Welding is actually joining metals together. There is a 100,000 PSI Brazing rod with the flux already on the rod is in that welding guide that I sent to you. The only caveat is that if you braze Cast Iron, you will never be able to weld the Cast Iron in that repair spot with a Cast Iron electrode because you will never be able to totally remove the copper alloy from the Cast Iron.

Saw something different and it may be an Idea. 1/2 Hoop greenhouse with firewood stacked inside around the outside were the walkway for a winter greenhouse. Claim was the thermal mass of the wood helped to keep the greenhouse warm. The top was against the house on the southern side. Heat loss from the house also helped warm the greenhouse. Firewood was close to the back door for easy access.

Heath, a good shepherd is gonna protect his flock. Whether it's a wolf or a raccoon you did what needed done. I grew up on a farm back in the 60's, even back then we took care of our livestock and our corn patches by thinning them down rodents. Mother nature has always replenished, even the raccoons.

Much as I love trees and decided to go to forestry college for my life's work, one of the first things they taught me at college was that a tree growing in the wrong place is a weed and should be dealt with accordingly. A weed can be tolerated if it doesn't hinder a better tree from growing or isn't smack dab in a roadway you need to access your property, or where you need a pad to store your equipment. I hope you can lovingly get Cedar to understand that without letting her emotions get in the way of a logical and sensible decision. I think you are on the right track. It is really no different than picking vegetables out of her garden but on a larger scale. If you let weeds grow in your garden, all your efforts of fitting and planting and fertilizing will come to naught and you have simply wasted your time. You are not a family to waste your time. You have improved your woodlot and saved money for heating your house and made your property more park-like and accessible so you can all enjoy it. When I laid out trails on my property, I purposely left undisturbed islands in the woods for wildlife habitat. They need a place for food and shelter too.

Just a thought with where you store your wood have you thought of putting wooden divides in place to make three sections for oldest too just split to help with keeping it in order then you could sack high without mixing them up if it could work for you and by making them wood you could slide them out of the way if needed? I love your water shed

People complaining about removal of Racoon likely never saw the blood bath left after an attack by a racoon, owl, or fox, it's like a scene from a horror movie, but instead of people it's chickens and it's real, have to get rid of the Racoon: "Jason" "Michael or "Freddie" 😉
