Had a ‘67 Econoline Super Van. 18” longer. Wheelbase was the same, but the body hung waay over the rear axle. 240ci straight six. Pure cargo van. Not even a front passenger seat. My dad was in the vending machine business and that’s the type of rig we used to service our equipment with. Three on the tree and the choke was on the front left of the engine cover. That cover got so hot in the summer you could fry an egg on it.

Thanks for sharing your van really nice how you put it together not over done just right where you can drive a classic van and sell stuff out of it or just have fun I know as a 70s kid everyone wanted a cool van. My Father bought his first new econo line van in the 1960s for his dry cleaning business he picked up and delivered clothes or anything people had cleaned. Then in 1979 are family had a 'HOT TAMALY' business to deliver Tamalies. That van only got wrecked into from behind and got fixed right away. All those years the van manage to stay very clean my father ended up donating it to clarity cause. Now my mother owns a 2002 small dodge van that gets good gas miles and is pretty clean for as old it is.

I saw this van when it was for sale in Phoenix AZ around 2014ish. I went to check it out, but someone had already bought it, but I did get to see it. Very nice. Mine now is somewhat similar. However it isn't a Panel Van if you want to be precise. Panel Vans don't have any side doors. What you (had) and I have is a Standard Cargo Van. Panel Vans or "No Door" vans as they are nicknamed are the rarest first generation Econoline and weren't introduced until 1964...No windows or doors on the sides...besides the front doors of course.

My first vehicle was a 63 as well. I liked that you put the rhino liner in it. Sounds good. Mine had plenty of road noise...there’s a lot of space in the engine bay that can be insulated out. Sharp! Thanks! Should even get good mileage. Porter Dude of Ohio.

I bought one of these for $360.00 in 1998 and rebuilt the 289 in it with higher compression. They are uni-body which is about the only thing not cool about them.. Also there is a big weight mounted in the back that does nothing but keep it from doing a front flip.. Parts, especially glass, are next to impossible to get.. Mine was a '63 with a three-speed and 289; mine had skinny tires and I changed the third-gear to lower rev.

Looks great man! I just purchased a 1961 Ford Econoline Panel Van as well. Any advice you could give that you learned in the restoration process?

About how much did it cost you to restore this thing? Or how much to get her running without paint, interior, and wheels? I got a 63 that my dad gave me and I want to restore it. It hasn’t been driven since the late 90’s. Can you please give me some advice on where to start and where I can buy parts? Would appreciate that, thanks.
@Garrettrbarth5 жыл бұрын
Parts are readily available online. There's also a supplier called Mac's who specializes in early Ford's. If it was running when it was parked it may not cost much to get it running at all. Maybe a battery, some fluids, possibly a fuel pump. Depending on your mechanical abilities, restoration can greatly vary in cost. Labor is a huge part of the cost. Paint and body work can be as cheap as $1000 up to $10,000. Just keep in mind there are lots of aspects that you wouldn't think that can add up fast like chrome plating and weatherstripping, on top of paint, interior, mechanical. They are very cool though. Good luck with your project.
