Skating is the fountain of youth. I started inline skating at age 48, and roller skating at age 49. Now, at the age of 68, I'm learning to skate the ramps and half-pipes at skateboard parks on my roller skates. Aches and pains? Sure. Just take an Advil and keep on truckin'.

Just because someone is older doesn't mean they are dead. As long as you can do it - do it!

Not only ice skating, bring back roller rinks! Bring back that super music from the fifties and sixties to skate to.

I learned at 30 as well. I am turning 63 this year, but currently in poor health. You make me want to get healthy again!

I skated for two years when I was 11-12. School enabled me for years but when I wanted to start again at 19, coaches rejected me saying I was too old to skate anymore.

That’s just wonderful. I started taking lessons at 20, and here at age 45, I’m still doing it! I love skating!

I'm self taught since I was 5 and because my parents never supported me I was always alone with the same old skates I BEGGED for (the only thing my parents ever bought me). And after I moved out and had to concentrate on my carrier and health I never had the chance to come back to the ice. Now I'm 29 and I was so afraid to go back to the ice. Afraid of being laughed at while trying to practice. It really breaks my heart.

Thank you so much for making this video. It's a great inspiration for adult figure skaters like me (started at 23)

Love this video. I discovered it last week and watch it again and again. I researched about the woman Rhea Swartz who came up with figure skating for adults 18 and older and how she came up with competitions for adults as well. That brought a huge smile to my face. Not everyone is fortunate enough that started off skating as kids, competed as kids, stuck with it as teens until adulthood and competed for major events like Nationals, Worlds, and Olympics. Most people wished it would happen to them but that's not reality for most people. What Rhea Swartz came up with competitions for adults 18 and older, gives adults opportunities to train and compete and devote a lifetime to the sport and there's different levels one can pass as an adult. There should be more books, catalogs, and commercials on this subject to urge adults who are gifted recreational ice skaters who want to train and compete. You're never too old to learn, skate, and follow your dreams.

This makes me want to skate again! We all had to learn how to skate when I was in school, from age 5 to 10. I'm scared I've forgotten.

Thank you so much for this! this has really motivated me to continue skating. iIstarted when i was 7-8 years old then stopped after a year or so and im continuing at age 15. After realising i can never be a an olympic skater i thought what was the point but this video has really re-motivated me.
