Just a note to say how much I enjoy your channel. Still working on 0 - 100 but have watched the rest. "End of the day" is my favorite. When I have a busy day, it feels good to say "end of the day". Here is one I like that my Dad said, "All the easy things are done". Someone already did the easy stuff, all that is left is hard stuff so go back to work. LOL Thank you again for all your videos!

You're correct in your pronunciation of Tucumcari - Two come carry. If you're ever through there and and want a good steak or salad bar, stop at Stone Ranch Steakhouse (in Tucumcari). They are usually closed on Mondays though.

The lake you're thinking of is Santa Rosa lake just to the north, but there are also several smaller lakes just to the south including the Blue Hole which is a sinkhole that is deep enough to get scuba certified in. I wouldn't exactly describe Santa Rosa as being dead. Serves as a major rail junction for BNSF for car haulers off-loading onto semis (there is a multi-acre parking lot/staging area visible from I-40) as well as highway traffic. Also, the reason you still see a lot of those old hotels/motels still in business is because major towns/cities are spaced fairly far apart ex. from Albuquerque east on I-40, places with a decent amount of all the traveling amenities (food/fuel/lodging) are on average at least an hour apart. Also, during wintertime, because the stretches between towns are so long, if a major snowstorm occurs, NMDOT will shut-down I-40. Santa Rosa is one of the points that this occurs. When it happens, all traffic is diverted off the interstate and you end up with hundreds of travelers needing a place to stay. It's also why there are several truck stops in Santa Rosa for the same reasons (I-40 sees a significant amount of tractor-trailer traffic). My hometown of Moriarty (1hr east on I-40) is the same way, lots of fast food, lots of hotels/motels, lots of gas stations and 3 truck stops. Moriarty is coincidentally the next point of where I-40 gets shutdown. I remember in 2015, I-40 got shutdown for three days all the way from Albuquerque to the Texas border. Moriarty alone had over 500 motorists with nowhere to stay after all the hotels had filled up. The local Lion's Club and the city civic center opened up with cots as emergency shelters. I don't know how many travelers in total were stuck because like I mentioned previously, there is lot of hotel space (just the major chains include Best Western, Super 8, Motel 6, Quality Inn, and Rodeway Inn).

Enjoyed the 'sergio leone' soundtrack sort of music. I like the old towns in NM like Demming, Santa Rosa, Lordsburg. As you say driving through them is like getting into a time machine and returning to the 50s, 60s. Places that times seems to have forgotten. I can totally relate to why you prefer to do a lot of the work on the truck on the road as opposed to doing it at home. Doing it that way also fills up the downtime on the road with activities as well as freeing you up at home to focus on other things like the wife and home activities which all in all is good for everyone, and good for the mind.

Hi Dan, thank you for sharing your life on the road. My son has a scuba diving business in eastern Oklahoma and takes groups to dive at the Blue Hole a couple of times a year. It is a geologic feature about 80 feet deep fed from a spring at the. bottom overflowing at the top. The water is very clear and stays around 61 degrees year round. Blue Hole is a popular scuba destination having as many as 100 divers over a weekend. Thank you for the tour of "down town" Santa Rosa and a bit of 66..

Santa Rosa, NM is a neat little town. When I drove through there last September the school took the children on a school trip to T&D Food Mart and two city patrol cruiser stopped traffic both directions so the children could cross safely. It’s good to see that a town still cares so much for their children safety. It’s also amazing to see how much freight the trains can haul. Great video!

I supervised a library in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, that, although being a small community, had two railroads passing through. The library was housed in what had been a railroad station. One railroad line, just behind our building; was the Genesee Wyoming on what had originally been the Maryland Midland line. The youngsters loved dashing to the windows to watch the trains passing by.

Dan I do believe that that was the first time I've seen you get playful with Bailey, and she got a little playful! I'm sorry, but I used to have a little dog that was part weiner dog, and part Rottweiler, or so people said that she looked like a miniature Rottweiler because she had really short legs like Bailey, and she was always playful, and very (loss for words), she loved sitting in my lap, and she loved to cuddle, but because I'm homeless now, back when I had my little suv, the backend was her domain, and I had a small tote with her bed on top of it, and she used to lay up on her bed, and look out the window, but one day, I guess it's been about 5 years ago, I had a doctor's appointment that lasted longer than I expected, and even though I she had plenty of water, and her food, and I had the windows halfway down, because it was up in the 100's that day, when I went out to my car, and opened the door to get in, she was laying in my seat, and her head kinda fell off to the side, and her tongue was hanging out with drool hanging off of it, and when I went to pick her up, she was already getting stiff, and as much as I tried to revive her, she had already passed, and even with help from the doctor, and the nurses, we were unable to revive her, and it literally broke my heart, which is why as long as I'm still homeless, and living in my truck, I have an old '97 Ford F150, I'm living in now, I will not have another dog, because I refuse to subject another animal to such torture! I thought with the windows down, and she had plenty of water, that she'd be on, but I guess it got too hot for her, which is why I worry about Bailey, because sometimes when you're filming 🎥, you shut the truck off, like the other day when you opened up the door, and she was laying down on the floor in front of your seat, I could see that her tongue was hanging out, and she was panting! I'm a huge animal lover, and I've had my share of dogs, and cats, and horses, and a little of everything else, it bothers me whenever I see an animal being abused, but I know you love Bailey, like I loved my Lily, but unfortunately she's no longer with me, and I miss her every day, because that how close we were! And Bailey, she's just as cute as Lily was! Anyway, it was nice to see you two being playful together! So take care, and stay safe, and give Bailey a hug for me!...🤗💖👍

You should put in an inverter so you don’t have to run the generator for something as simple as making a cup of coffee or using your microwave for two or three minutes. As much driving as you do your batteries would be charged by the alternator and I’m sure you wouldn’t Run your generator 1/10 of the time that you do now.

I remember rt 66 as a kid (nothing but fragments of Interstate back then), and I used much of it when I reported to NAS Norfolk in 1970. The Movie Cars has a lot of reality about that route. I also remember that big rigs did not have sleepers. There were Motels and eats near places trucks stopped for the night.

@markmyers840 Yes. Yes you can. And you're still trespassing. One can kill too but some how, that's illegal also. And one can take property they don't own and that's stealing. But yes, you can do it. Did you some how miss basic social construct of what is right and wrong? It's universal that going onto private property is trespassing. Not exactly sure why this idea is so difficult for you to comprehend. It's almost like you're a police officer who can't grasp basic legal principles between public and private property.
