In this episode I review the Aventon Aventure bike. This isn't a very technical review but I go through my feelings of the bike after 635 miles of use. I also go over some accessories I enjoy. I have the aventure 2 and yes it would be great to get around if SHTF but if it was that bad, I highly doubt we would have electricity to charge it with. And it would be hard to pedal this heavy thing everywhere with no assist.

I plan to get this bike in next 30 days for hunting. As a archery hunter this bike will be a game changer. I will get deeper into the woods and faster on Public lands I hunt. Those 1.3 mile hikes with a tree climber will allow me get to my spots faster and quieter and without sweating my ass off. Power assist 5 for any Appalachian foothills in my area is prime reason why I'm getting the AA e-Bike. As for SHTF, hey that is your mojo and respect your position. It is a crazy world? Agreed. Better get those solar panels to prevent upcoming brown outs in California. Crazy! Your state is beautiful for e-Biking. Oh, like your bike upgrades. Bike on!

Hard for me to take someone seriously when they are sporting a 3% club patch. Not disputing your right to wear whatever the heck you want in your videos. That's OK, I prefer having a freedom loving audience vs a tyranny loving one. If it weren't for the 3% this country wouldn't even exist (the 3% of people who fought in the Revolution). I will wear my beliefs proud and strong, just like the alphabet people. Remember the time when we all could be proud of being an American and have disputes? It wasn't that long ago.

As someone who's never ridden an e-bike, do you prefer the cadence sensor to the newer torque sensor in the Aventure 2? Off to watch some of your newer videos, maybe you address this.

If sh!t hits the fan, do you already have a roll-up PV (that you can carry with you) to re-charge the battery? I don't think having a plan to go purchase one after the sh!t has already hit, is NOT a good plan.

I've got the solar panel setup too now. I haven't been making content because I'm always prepping for SHTF. I believe I stated that I was going to get the solar panel setup (same one Canadian Prepper uses). Thanks for watching!

Love your bike packing gear! For thoughts on bug out situation how do you plan to recharge?

Solar panels and a charge controller, I will do a video on that once I get the gear. Its not a cheap setup but its efficient. Unlike those small solar panels the setup I want will be quick charge (somewhat quick for solar).

What about charging your ebike in shtf situation. How many panels do you need? How long does it take?

When I get all the gear I will make a video on it. From what I gather it will take a special setup. The one I'm looking into is a foldable light weight 120w solar array. I hear it will take the better part of a day to fully charge.

$2300 out the door (including tax, bike racks and a helmet. I said in the first bikepacking video I did how fast it can go. Top speed 28mph (I've gotten it 48 mph downhill). On flat ground using lowest power setting I've gone 65 miles. However I did turn off power a lot. Full throttle you can go 20 miles.

I owned restaurants for 50 years in Florida, 7 days a week including Christmas, retired 2 years ago at 73. Been researching bikes for about a month now and 'have the bug', big time! Zaine you said the Aventon is your bug out vehicle but maybe you would use a car to get the bike to the trail head in a bug out situation. My thoughts were , well the battery is going to die so using this bike for a bugout situation seems silly since you cant recharge the bike .

I would not recommend anyone buy this as of 8/13/22 as the parts that come on the bike do not match the specs and especially not the bikes you see reviews of on YT. For instance, mine is a 65mm travel fork instead of the advertised 80mm and the shifters feel really cheap. The wheels were out of true as were the brakes. Quality control and cost reductions without changing the marketing or telling consumers is bull.
