I haven't noticed any degradation, but have not definitively tested it. Thanks for commenting & subscribing. I like the laptop, but the sound output is terrible. You will definitely want to use some external speakers. It seems the input microphone jack also has issues. It took a long time to configure OBS studio to work with the external microphone. Let me know if you get it and what your experience is like.

Hello. I added 8GB ram to my laptop. cl22 and 3200mhz. But I am getting a blue screen error. The error I got was 0xc000021a and after the new ram I installed, Windows asked for repair. What is the reason ? is it a normal situation?

No it's not normal. See the pinned comment at the top. Try to run some memory test on the memory and see what the results are. Also make you have the correct physical configuration for the banks. You don't remove the battery before installing the Ram

Static electricity is the most important thing to worry about. Standing on a rubber mat, using rubber gloves, or wearing a grounding strap all lessen the chance of static discharge. You need to clean the vents on the top / bottom. This is a common issue with this particular laptop. Duster alone probably won't work. Mine would hit 98*C in G mode. After zi cleaned the vents, it was hovering around 85 max.

Hi, I want to know why did you choose the G.SKILL I ordered the same laptop and I want to upgrade the RAM but I'm now confused with the brands There is any difference with crucial, Kingston or Corsair to name some examples ?

G.Skill met the spec and was at a good price point. My research indicated it performed well and is generally cheaper. I haven't had any problems since the upgrade. I think any brand that meets the specs of the computer would be okay. Let me know if you have any specific questions or need any help. Would love to get some feedback after the upgrade to know how it went.

@@CyberMedics could you also please provide Bios version? I have a problem that the system accepts 1 memory of 32GB on slot B, but doesnt accept it on slot A. For example, slot A with 8GB and slot B with 32GB works. But slot A with 32 and slot B with 8 doesnt. Both slots with 32GB also doesnt work. I have bios version 1.8.0, and I have 2 ADATA memories of 32GB.

@@MidnightPodcast I think the problem may be the voltage rating on the ram. On Dell's support forum users said ram must be specd for 1.2v vice 1.35v. People using 1.35v ram have noticed below spec freq on the ram.

@@CyberMedicsi tried to put one single 32 gb memory alone and noticed that it does work efficiently so i put the 8 gb ram in the second slot to be 40 gb in total and the window works good and in a good condition with high performance. My laptop can’t deal with 64 gb , now it works with 32 plus 8 gb rams

Check around the whole perimeter to make sure the space is the same around the edge. It was tricky to get the panel to unsnap and snap back in. It may have seemed to snap, but probably didn't go in all the way. Thank you for commenting,

It's a 64-bit bus so there's no advantage of one or two slot configuration. The only thing to consider is what is the cheapest way for you to upgrade your memory to the level that you want.

I tried the RipJawz in my Intel Dell G15 5511 and within a day I was getting the dread BSOD multiple times a day. No idea why it doesn't like the Intel version but it doesn't or maybe it's just I have terrible luck.

​@@qutiephoebe2154they said the same thing about the 5515. All that means is they have not certified it with 64 gigabytes. I can't guarantee it but it does not mean it will not work. It's probably not going to have a problem with 64 gigabytes is my estimation.

@@CyberMedics Forgot to mention... the latest AlienFX update seems to screw up the backlit keyboard. Only way to fix it is flashing to the latest bios. I believe I was on 1.08 and 1.12 is current. Fixed my issue.

If you are in anyway signed in on a Microsoft account on the computer or even a Microsoft service on the cloud, be careful when updating the BIOS or operating system. I went through bios update and BitLocker locked up my computer. luckily I was able to get the security key to unlock it. Might want to check out our BitLocker video.

@@CyberMedics I use offline accounts but register copies of Windows under my MSN. I haven't had any issues so far. Went with Win10 in the end. My plan is to use Linux as my host and throw up a few VM's. Not sure if I'd be successful in creating a hardware passthrough for GPU usage or not, but I'm sure it'll be a hoot.

@@CyberMedics something like a stress test and if the CPU was helped by the improved ram. Apex legends or cyberpunk 2077 comes to mind.... I have this same model g15 5515 5800H but I have the 3060 version... And I was about to buy the 32 gb ram but if this is stable and it does a noticable improvement... I think people should know about it. And videos like yours help give tangible examples for people like me.

@@lianinerte Thanks for commenting. I'm not sure 64GB is required. I plan on doing some testing with virtual machines on the computer, which is the main reason I went with 64GB of ram. I also tend to keep computers for a long time and always regret when it start to show it age that I didn't max out the RAM for extended performance lifetime. Don't plan on installing any games on the machine, but could run a benchmark emulation if you have a particular one in mind.
