I went though the same thing with a carb kit. They sent me another which had the right size needle seat, but most everything else was wrong. My tank is rotten. You were lucky to get a good one.

Thank you for saving this piece of motorcycle history. This was my first motorcycle. White with whitewalls. It did not come with turn signals so you just used your arms. Very dangerous at night! Note someone tried to add turn signals. 11:07 Behind the three screw side plate is the centrifugal oil filter that should be scraped clean. When someone struck my car this motorcycle was my only transportation to college and work even when it was raining. I had no one else to rely on. It saved me. I put about 45,000 on it. My longest trip was Burbank up highway 395 to Oregon and down the coast back to Burbank. At South Lake Tahoe there were two gals on step through Honda 50cc Cubs. They had driven there from Saskatchewan, Canada. Looks like this one has a caring home in Durham.

@@sethmullins8346 65mph. And with no counter balancers the vibration was harsh at that speed. On my long high speed freeway trip back from Oregion the mirror decided to vibrate off in mid flight. :) It was a dependable little machine. I was grateful to have it in times of need.

Great video and great job getting the little twin going again after so long. I have a CA175 which is the next evolution of small Honda twins after the CA95 and CA92. Superb little bikes that with the most basic of maintenance will run forever 🙂

Yeah.. my first 'real' motorcycle was the 150 dream.. I actually forgot they were called "Benly' this was in 1966? the bike was only 3 or 4 years old at the time but priced right for a 14 year old. electric start. no oil leaks.. ran perfect and smoothly. even my dad was impressed and he hated motorcycles. easy to learn on. smooth clutch and trans. Ugly and red to boot. Rode it for a few years and could not kill it. just not 'cool' enough eventually and went to brit big twins and then Harley only for the rest of my bike riding and still have a shovelhead in the garage.

Great video, great job capturing that first fix it up and shake down run. How does it compare to a superhawk? I was looking at this early age of honda but don't know if I need to get a 305 so I can hit the 40 ish speed limit around here

The Benly and Dream both have a different feel and sound to the Superhawk thanks to their 360 degree cranks. The Superhawk revs more freely since it has two carburetors, but it isn't quite as smooth as the Dream. As for speed, the Benly is perfectly capable of going on a road with a 45 mph speed limit. Anything over 50mph would start to be stressful though. A Superhawk in good tune should be able to break 100mph, and is fine for 55+mph roads without breaking a sweat. short jumps on the highway aren't fun, but it is doable. I'm not sure how fast a 305 Dream can go, but I would guess that it is somewhere between the Benly and the Superhawk. Then Benly is awesome because of how physically small it is. It definitely feels very Grom like. I'm 6' tall and my knees are pretty much at the top of the tank. For fun factor and rarity, I'd rather have the Benly, but for practicality and usability you can't beat the 305.

I HAVE A QUESTION, Is this bikes chassis or frame the same size as a 305 ? I have my eye on a couple parts bikes for restoring a 305 and I was wondering are the headlight, front fender, and other body parts interchangeable? Thanks for any help.

SSN stamped on everything that might get stolen was an actual thing way back when. pretty sure that there is no way to actually kill one of those old carbs. clean em up and they will work. LOL tho talk about old school? we never wore gloves either. The biggest problem with most of the old bikes was actually just the ignition switch. none of em held up.. guess it was vibration that kills em.
