Always enjoy your wood splitting videos. I have an outdoor wood burning furnace and it takes big wood. It takes 32 inch long wood if it does not need splitting. 8-10 inch round sticks at 32 inches is a handful to manage at times, but if we need to split it, it has to be 24 inches to fit splitter. When I see your 16 inch stuff split into kindling it looks like some of my scrap wood. Keep up good videos and say howdy to family. Central Maine Dan..

The farmers would sell me the tops for a few hundred dollars and I would work evenings and weekends cutting and splitting with a wood maul. A 150 tree tops would last me a couple of years. Anyone who has cut firewood knows what a workout it is and I attribute my good health today to challenging myself to keep right on cutting and burning firewood. I built my own log splitter from scrap 28 years ago. It's still going strong and I only have $250 invested in it. Love the RK tractors and all the equipment. Your living the dream! Have a blessed Christmas KEEP ON BUCKING Bob from Indiana

Hey Mike and Melissa! I've been watching your videos for about 6 months now. Love the firewood set up. I would feel super spoiled to have a setup like yours. I love cutting and splitting fire wood. I call it my "THERAPY" Being a young 68 year old I still cut and split a couple of cords a year for our home. For over 20 years I purchased tree tops from Farmers my logger Buddy

Great little Christmas story good to hear Hannah got her ornament. I can fully relate there are a couple of ornaments through my childhood that I didn’t get because my mom and I were extremely poor. It’s so good to see all the equipment back home were it belongs. Melissa keep on pushing through you’ll heal in no time, lower body injuries are the worst.

When i was little there were 5 kids in our family and on December 1st. we would all sit down at the kitchen table with Mom and make a paper chain with a link for everyday left before Christmas and each night we tore off 1 link and i was so excited as the chain got smaller each night and when the last link was torn off of course we could not sleep Santa was coming tonight....... My Mom and Dad made Christmas so Wonderful.

I hope the foot heals quickly! I feel your pain! I had shoulder surgery five weeks ago and in the sling for at least another week and then begin rehab. It will be a while before I will be cutting any wood so I am living vicariously through your videos. By the way! I just received my Solo Bonfire based upon your recommendation, and we love it. Thank you!!! And Merry Christmas everyone!

If Piper looks like Andy, Melissa had a "Woodstock" thing workin' with her hair (Snoopy's bird friend) today, after she pulled the hood back. Fantastic! Emphasized, for me, how she can't ever look bad, even when she looks like she's been dropped out of Dorothy's tornado. Beautiful, no matter what. Thing I love so much about the Morgan Clan is how genuine and honest it is, no matter what else the video content is conveying.

On video yesterday, you asked about thoughts for building your woodshed for the sawmill. Try a timber frame building with the length of the building open with slidi6 doors on both sides. Gives you easy access and a cross brreze. Use your own timber and wouldn't be as much out of pocket cost

Mike I've figured out a formula for the size building you will need. After you have decided on the exact size to suit your purpose you should make it 50% larger. That way when it is all finished it will only be 25% too small......Have fun my friend.

@davidingram3535 жыл бұрын
As long as Mike builds it in a way to expand in the future, that extra 50% can be tripled and then when that's done it will only be 50% to small.

Hi Mike I have my Wood Mizer LT40 in one big building where I store my firewood processor, tractors and other stuff. Seemed like a good idea at the time, milling inside with lighting, out of the wind and rain. Problem is everything gets a fine layer of dust. Not the end of the world but if I was to do it again I'd keep the Mizer in a separate building. Looking forward to seeing the future projects. Happy Christmas everyone from a very wet England.

You need one of those trailer movers. It’s a handle and two wheels. Has a ball on it to move trailers around. I want one for my wood splitter. Princesses Auto has them in Canada. Probably Tractor Supply or Northern Tool down there.

Hello Mike and Melissa, great video this morning, you got your firewood machinery back home and set up. That’s a great set up and you make it all work well together for your family. Sure hate to see Melissa hobbling around like that, hope she heals quickly with no problems. Don’t injure yourself any more than you have ! That’s a long walk on that hill. Will you be able to get some drone footage of your firewood system in operation when you are all down there and everything running? You have such a great set up for everything working. Thanks for sharing with us, we really look forward to seeing you all on here as you post your videos.

Melissa I too had a foot operation (plantar wart on the ball of the foot) and how it put a hitch in my giddyup. You just have to get around so you go ahead and limp. I like your setup for splitting but my stove is an old Fisher papa bear and much of your split wood is kindling for that monster stove. I can take lengths up to 30+ inches but keep them at about 24 inches as that is the most length my splitter will split.

Melissa is like me. It is almost impossible to stop me. I had broke the heel on my one foot and ended up on crutches and was still out cutting down trees and bucking them into rounds while on crutches. I broke my left wrist and had surgery and a steel plate and 9 screws in and a brace on the wrist since I can't wear a cast and was still out cutting down trees and bucking them into rounds a week after the surgery. Hope you heal up quick Melissa.

are there hydraulics missing for the radial stacking function or do you just remove pins at the axle knuckles and adjust wheels? that is obviously the reason for the ball hitch base, do wondering if it is standard or an extra option.
@WolfeRidge5 жыл бұрын
Hello Gary! Articulating hubs come standard, we use a 3/4 bolt to lock in place so it is super secure for towing down the road. Just take that bolt out and push the tire to rotate hub assembly. We do not have a hydraulic power option on radial stacking, it rolls pretty easy by hand by just pushing on top of the tires Yes, that ball plate is to allow the conveyor to pivot at the center of the splitter sorting table. You can turn the conveyor about 30 degrees in each direction to fan out the pile without having to move the splitter. Thanks! Chris
@MacBailey5 жыл бұрын
I don't think I have ever seen you try turning the wheels on the conveyor "sideways" to have it pivot and spread out the pile into a semi-circle. I would like to see that feature tried out.
@brianrizzi63215 жыл бұрын
What is long term seasoning plan for this ever growing pile of firewood? Think it will dry left in a pile or will you start to stack it in rows somewhere? How big will you let it get before you start pile number 2?
