Who are Dani and Brenna?
@daniandbrenna
Originally from London, England, we quit our “normal” lives in 2017 to travel the world together.
Starting in Asia, we backpacked our way around the continent for 12 months, before hiking over 1000 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail for 3 months.
Since then, we’ve travelled to over 45 countries together, and embarked on some pretty crazy challenges (including cycling from Seattle to LA on the Pacific Coast Highway)!
We’ve lived in some amazing parts of the world, and together we’ve been slowly ticking off our travel bucket list for over 7 years!
Follow our journey as we explore and experience more - documenting the ups and downs on the way!

Did you not know that there is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley from Tengboche? Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail offers vastly better views high across the valley, lots of wildlife and practically no other trekkers. Tengboche can be visited on the way down. Makes absolutely no sense to hike the same trail twice when better alternative is available.

Nope, we didn’t know about this alternative, so we just did the same trail that everyone else does 😆

@@daniandbrenna "Just did the same trail that everyone else does"... That is the problem with both electronic heat maps and Nepalese guides. Everybody hikes the same trail so everybody hikes the same trail. Guides are afraid to try anything which deviates from the norm even if there were better routes available. Several innovative western agencies have started using the Phortse route but Nepalese not. Sometimes guides actually invent excuses and straight lies in order to avoid anything unusual: landslide, icy trail, avalanche, lodges closed. Real reason is that they get kickbacks from the usual lodges and want to drink booze and play cards with their colleagues, not stay overnight in less frequented lodge where he is not well known and gets no financial reward. Customer experience comes distant third.

@@daniandbrenna That rule is not enforced anywhere anyway. And Khumbu area refuses to comply even if the government tried to enforce it. So guide is not needed.
