@SpeedyBlueBiker1 Жыл бұрын
That was a really good video that you made of your EBC Trek. I did that trek in late March early April of 2000. Yes, a long time ago now. A lot has changed since then. First, it was a dirt landing strip at Lukla. Still an awesome flight. Second, guides were not required as I heard they are now. We travelled in a group of four. One difference that we did was because we were independent we stayed two days in Namche and also two days in Pheriche on the way up. I think that this helped a lot in the acclimatation process. We also stayed the night in Dugla or Thukla and then went to Lobuche. The next day we went up Kala Pattar and back to Lobuche. The next day we went to EBC and returned to Lobuche. On the way down we stopped in Dingboche and the next day walked all the way to Namche. We did not have the snow and rain like you had at all except for one day going from around Tengboche down to Namche. Oh, and that day from Namche to Tengboche was hard. I wasn't expecting that. Other great treks are Annapurna Base Camp and the Annapurna circuit. Lantang is really nice too. I did those back in the 90's.

My wife and I spent time in Nepal working with Global Village, Habitat for Humanity. It was an amazing experience! At the end, we went to Pokhara and did a trek. No two steps are the same, and going down was just about as hard as going up! The views of Annapurna and the Himalaya’s were breathtaking! We had much better weather than you, it was November. Thanks for sharing your amazing journey! Paul and Nancy. (Worked with Laura at PSA/USAirways)

I just finished the trekking to EBC, kalapathar to Chola pass with beautiful Gokyo lake then passed the Renjo pass. I could not take beautiful scene as you have taken due to my health issues. I got upper respiratory tract infection from Namche Bazar but I did not give up. I had really bad cough and shortness of breath all of the journey time, specially while I was at Gokyo. Still I do have hotness of voice. But I am proud that I made it. I love the people from another country made us proud to be land of Mt Everest. Kudos for your vedios and experience sharing.❤

I love your record, so bright and positive, even in the cold and rain. I’ve been on the trek for it’s own sake, and then went back twice to climb Everest, so stayed at EBC for many weeks over both expeditions. As you now know, altitude living is tough. Kudos to the in-laws….I’m their age now, and thinking of trekking back one more time to see “my” mountain again, but I have had recent health issues to complicate matters. Your film makes me keener than ever to overcome my concerns and give it a go again. Thank you, and good luck to you both in your futures! 👍👏❤️

Thanks a lot for sharing this. It was moving for me to see these places again. I did this hike 45 years ago, and things have changed a lot. Namche Bazar was only a very small village at the time, with only very basic facilities and then we had to camp all the way to Everest Base Camp with our own tent, because there was no accomodation at that time. And food was quite scarce too. Another big difference is that we begun our hike only 50 km away from Katmandhu, where the road stopped, so we had to hike about 35 days to reach Everest Base Camp. It was quite an adventure at the time and we were not bothered by the crowds.
