I am 65 years old Nepali retirement lady. Loved trekking. I have been to Poon hill, Mardi, ABC, Langtang. THIS November From 12 I flew to Lukla, met my guide n poter. AT Denbouch git High Alltitude n almost give up. Staying two nights there on19 I reached Everest Base Camp. Proud myself. This trek was most challanging , tough crazy amazing.... Finally I made it. No one was believed that I am nepali

I just watched this, and thank you! You have done an amazing job showing us exactly what this trek is like! I have heard so many stories over the years about the hike up Everest but nothing that tells you what simply getting to base camp entails. This video was so informative and even over a screen, the beauty was stunning. I can only imagine how unbelievable it is in person. I have never wanted to do this, but I still appreciate those who have that wanderlust to explore. Thanks for sharing!!

That was a really good video that you made of your EBC Trek. I did that trek in late March early April of 2000. Yes, a long time ago now. A lot has changed since then. First, it was a dirt landing strip at Lukla. Still an awesome flight. Second, guides were not required as I heard they are now. We travelled in a group of four. One difference that we did was because we were independent we stayed two days in Namche and also two days in Pheriche on the way up. I think that this helped a lot in the acclimatation process. We also stayed the night in Dugla or Thukla and then went to Lobuche. The next day we went up Kala Pattar and back to Lobuche. The next day we went to EBC and returned to Lobuche. On the way down we stopped in Dingboche and the next day walked all the way to Namche. We did not have the snow and rain like you had at all except for one day going from around Tengboche down to Namche. Oh, and that day from Namche to Tengboche was hard. I wasn't expecting that. Other great treks are Annapurna Base Camp and the Annapurna circuit. Lantang is really nice too. I did those back in the 90's.

Thank U 🙏. Nicely presented and shooted vlog. When you are on those heights, over 5.000 m, its wise to listen yr body. As the parents did. One day acclimatization is not often enough. You have very American, positive attitude. Here in this kind of environment it truly helps. It seemed a very well organised trekking tour. 👍 Nepalian ppl have learned well, how to do business as well. Thats great so. For outdoor ppl definitely a bucket list type of trip. How ecological it is, is totally an other issue.

Thanks a lot for sharing this. It was moving for me to see these places again. I did this hike 45 years ago, and things have changed a lot. Namche Bazar was only a very small village at the time, with only very basic facilities and then we had to camp all the way to Everest Base Camp with our own tent, because there was no accomodation at that time. And food was quite scarce too. Another big difference is that we begun our hike only 50 km away from Katmandhu, where the road stopped, so we had to hike about 35 days to reach Everest Base Camp. It was quite an adventure at the time and we were not bothered by the crowds.

Hello. Thanks for documenting this! It's interesting & fascinating. I have an actor friend who's doing this trek right now. He's in pretty good shape, chose some awesome guides. I think he's prepped with the proper gear etc. He has climbed a few other places before. This is his first trek to base camp! Surprising you have your in-laws with you. If anyone were to have any kind of medical emergency, how would this be handled? How would you be found? Is there cell reception, or Sat phones? Since anyone probably has limited means of charging devices, do you carry portable solar panels in backpacks, or jackets? Is there special ways of powering up phones on the trails? I will share this vid with his people & hope to give them an idea of what he & the guide team is doing ❤❄️🏔️🦯🥾🎒🧥🧣🧤👖
@jprevatt9 күн бұрын
Also besides the random diners & shops, are there available bathrooms? Running water?
@EcoFlightAttendant9 күн бұрын
Hello! thanks for your comment! as for emergencies, guides have service, as do the tea houses along the way. Even at times we had our own cell service, but med evacs are so common and the route is so popular that it is pretty routine for them if something happens. We had portable power banks, and many tea houses did have electricity. But the higher up you go, it is either not available or you have to pay to charge a device. However, running water was hard to come by, so expect little to no showers, and no flushing toilets. We were able to refill our water bottles (with purification tablets) with no issues at every meal/tea house.

That’s awesome, I’d love to get to see it from a different perspective. Sunrise was awesome, me freezing probably didn’t help with getting enough footage haha. However sunset would be better if it’s clear, then the sun would shine on it instead of behind it. Mil is good, once she went down to a lower altitude her symptoms went away🫶🏽

Hey guys…Thank u for sharing your amazing experience. Well edited & stunning footage. I am doing the EBC & 3 passes starting Nov 15 so managed to pick up some more visual pointers from your vid . So sad to see your in-laws having to be heli-rescued especially as I though yr mum in law was doing quiet well..always a smile & happy disposition but may I ask which insurance company did u use.? Also with her treatment in Kathmandu was there any dramas with the insurance. Thank u once again…😁

This is inspirational. I’ve always been fascinated and starry eyed with Everest. I want to do the base camp Trek. I’m interested in your comment about Patagonia given the recent crowds at Everest.

I went to Patagonia (The W Trek) in Jan of 2016 and it was way less crowded than Everest. Absolutely beautiful & not as difficult. I'm not sure how it compares today, but because it's not as well known, perhaps it's still not as crowded.
