When riding in the heat, I use protection from direct heating of the head and some salt in the water bottles to make up for the losses from sweating. Water alone is not enough +++ I swapped the 48/32 crank for a 36/22. I'm not fast with that, but mountains are no problem. 8 10/34 rear. +++ I wish you a wonderful time on this Planet 🌍

Hi Eddy, Thanks for taking the time to share your pilgrim experience with me and so many others. You are an amazing story teller and I really enjoyed both your 65 and 66 videos. I’m 67 and about 35 years ago I was addicted as a cyclist but I did weekend centuries and my daily ride after work was 35 miles. Then I got a mortgage and family and cycling was forgotten. I just retired last January 2024 and I’m trying to get back on the bike. I have 100 lbs. to lose and my legs are weak but I am riding trainer and watching cycling videos. After I have dropped about 50 lbs. I will start riding again and I really look forward to that. You really are an inspiration and you are helping me with achieving my goals. Keep making videos and posting them on KZbin for your fans like me. Also I worry you don’t wear a helmet, Your brief riding partner Flaviu wore a helmet, I worry for you. Be safe!! I miss it so much, and now you have given me inspiration to get off my backside and pack my old tourer to the continent once more. I am 69 years of age but I know I can still tour. The other feeling is that your story has also made me happy and I find some parts very comical, especially at 19 minutes, with all those tractors whizzing by in the background, sort of like a motorway. I would like to ask if you are interested if I can add on some harmonica or guitar solo into your song and we can do it like duo singers too. My request is use our song on some of my future videos. Come to South East Asia for your cycling. 1. You cross through vastly different countries with different cultures (temples, mosques, etc) and sceneries (waterfalls, rice fields, beaches, mountains scenery, etc. 2. You probably do not need a tent or self cooking. 3. There are street food sold all over in each countries (hawker’s food, night markets, etc) 4. You can stay at cheap loggings or at temples (foc) especially in Thailand. 5. People are friendly and places are safe generally. 6. Start from Singapore to Malaysia, Thailand, Laos…and beyond. One can travel within 1 to 3 hrs by plane between these countries. 7. Welcome to SEA 🙏

At 63 sometimes I think I’ve missed the starting gun with my riding, but need to think again. What a wonderful journey, very inspirational. Bike-touring is challenging in Australia where I live, due to the distances involved and heat, but who knows, maybe one day I will get to experience the luxury of riding in Europe!
@65andbackonthebike Жыл бұрын
Never too late to start riding, Kathleen. And I wouldn't disqualify Australia for it. I've cycled almost 10.000km there, half of which between Perth and Melbourne, and I have good memories about it. Although that was 25 years ago and I might have forgotten about the tough bits. Don't know if I would still appreciate it now at my age, although I love deserts, the Outback, the vast open spaces where the roads are quiet... and I admit I'm thouroughly enjoying the comforts of the European bike infrastructures. Blessings! 🙏

I have been a Fatbike-Fan( Each wheel 4.5 cm.) for years. Occasionally, I see myself as a big Elephant driving the desert. Smooth, slow, but long last. I am Berlin based in Germany, and I had myself many rides into the Czech Republic. Indeed, a very nice country. I like your style of "Pilgraming".You're slow, but you focus on a good way. Good luck.

So refreshing to see your film, humanity and free spirit in a rapidly changing world where the political class and media try their hardest to control us. As you see from your travels, we are all equal, all trying to get on with our life, taking joy in simple pleasures. I look forward to seeing your next adventure.

Hello Eddy. I am writing to congratulate you on your trip and your desire to share it. I liked your style of travel, the simplicity of those places and their people. Also the video is very inspiring. I have in mind to do something similar in the region where I live and then who knows, continue to many more places. I'll be on the lookout for a new video of your adventures! I send you a big hug from the Pamps of Argentina.

It was my Sunday afternoon relaxing time at home, nice and silent with a cup of mushroom coffee in my hand, looking for something worth watching, I saw the title on KZbin, and it caught my attention, I watched the entire video… love it. About age is just a number, your heart is ticking and your mind wanders, don’t we all? But you have the right attitude and your spirit in the right direction. Keep going as long as you can while you can. Thank you for sharing your video, Is wonderful and very inspiring.

"Adventure is the elixir that feeds the fountain of youth"... Well said, Tim! 👍I guess that qualifies me to reach 100 years, at which age I intend to still be making a bike touring film every year...! So you've been warned for next time you see a new film of mine appear...: make sure you will have finished your coffee before pushing that play button, cos my screenplay ideas might become crazier every year... 🤪 Thanks for watching, bro ! 😎
