I practically grew up in my Father’s ‘66 SS 396. I was sad when he traded it for a ‘79 GMC Suburban. Thanks for sharing this.

Great car, I had a new one ! A demonstrator, 66 marina blue SS396 2 door hardtop. 325hp, 4 speed, 3.73 posi rear. Had it for 17 months before I traded it in on a 67 Pontiac GTO ragtop. Wish I still had both [or either] of these cars !

As much as I love this one, the best one had to be the 454 Chevelle from 1970. That was the Chevelle at it's peak.

I had 2 66 Chevelles in my time. One was 283 powerglide , the other tubbed out ls7 crate motor , that in early 80’s cost like $2500 , and TCI trans.

As much as I love musclecars, 90% of the commercials for them were horrible. They'd mention what engine you could have, but they never conveyed any real image of speed or performance in the commercial.

GM was notoriously conservative about that. They built a few fast sleds, but officially didn't want to be associated with racing or hot rodding. Kind of like a Baptist preacher who makes the best whiskey in the land, and makes lots of money off it, but sells it under a pseudonym.

Just a reflection in the stainless trim. Not really moving.
@joequillun77903 жыл бұрын
@awd protege As years passed onto those GM A-bodies, (66-67) those areas did start moving. Mainly cause they tended to rust out, so metal could potentially "flap" in the breeze. lol

No doubt, the std 396 was a Caprice motor unless you opted for the L-78; those Ford 351 HO Clevelands were bad-ass motors; the Boss 302s had truck blocks with 351 HO Cleveland heads
